OK, today we were talking about pop star Sinitta (sp?) and I recounted the story of how Buckingham Palace had contacted her PR people when she was an upcoming pop star because Prince Charles was a fan and the palace wanted to arrange a rendezvous between the pop star and prince so that he could pop his royal cherry with an approved one night stand.

Now... I remember seeing this in an interview with said pop star, and I insisted with the same strength of belief with which my workmate believes that flies have eyes at the back of their knees...

Anyway, I have just Googled it in what terms I could best think of and I can't find anything about it. So, ow I wonder if it was perhaps a different pop star?

Or... did I dream this.

Or... have I just for some reason imagined this interview/story?

The idea of someone from Buckingham palace phoning up the manager or whatever of a random pop star and saying, "Would your client like to come round and fuck the prince?" sounds unlikely on a million different levels. In his youth he'll have mixed with loads of eligible women from upper class families who, if something had to be arranged like this, and I'm far from convinced it would ever have to be, would be much more likely to be 'approved' than an upcoming pop star who could then trade on the information in the press. If you had to pick someone in the position least likely to give any guarantee of discreteness you'd probably come up with this exact scenario.

I can absolutely 100% see and totally agree with what you are saying...

but I really, really remember that interview. Maybe I dreamed it? (I have been having a recurring dream that I have swallowed my SD card for my camera because it is the same size as a Shreddie, so it's not impossible).

If I did dream this it was very realistic and I have been under the impression that this is true for about 10 or 12 years.

I would assume that it wasn't so much a case of "Would your client like to come round and fuck the prince?" but more "Would your client like to have drinks with the prince, perhaps a song, a little dance... Batman's head on a lance?"

If this actually happened the internet would know about it, indeed it would very likely be the first hit for a Google search of "Sinitta Prince Charles". The fact that you've done some serious searching and not turned up any evidence at all is evidence in itself I'd say. I did have the bright idea of finding an ebook version of Sinitta's biography and doing a search for prince and/or Charles in it but weirdly she doesn't seem to have one.

In a similar vein, I read an interview article in a "gentleman's magazine" about 30 years ago in which Helen Mirren supposedly said that she got her hand tattoo when she was still a man, as 'only sailors and hell's angels' had tattoos in those days. Can't find the damn thing now as I prolly threw it away when the pages were so stuck together that it wouldn't open any more.

Not exactly. I'm saying I remember reading it in this jazz mag ages ago, but I can't remember whether it was one of those articles that implied one thing and then stated the opposite within the said article. Like Yahoo news often seems to do.
