Beer taps at your table is a great, if really dangerous, idea. We went here on our last trip to Berlin and it was cool apart from the fact that they only had a single drink (lager, pffh!) coming through the taps. Amusingly, as it's part of a Europe wide chain, there's a big screen showing a constantly updated scoreboard of litres consumed per table across all the pubs in the chain. The geek in me was annoyed though that it only showed a cumulative total giving smaller parties no chance against huge stag weekend groups and whatnot. The taps track a per person total so it would be much fairer to give a per person scoreboard.

Explanation needed? Is it a self service pub?

Yep. You sign in to an iPad on the table, give it card details, then it bills you for everything you pour out of the pumps. Anything you order that doesn't come out of the pumps you order on the iPad and they bring it to you.

That one I linked to just keeps a total per table of beer consumed and then you settle up manually at the end of your stint. Which is less automated but prevents one poor bugger's card getting battered for the whole table's bill I suppose. That Berlin one does also have the touch screen for ordering food and drinks off-table though.

Do southerners really dislike talking to each other so much?

I can understand with the accent I suppose.

I wish I could. Looks awesome.

Actually, I could, but circumstances prevent it right now.

We didn't manage to get one of the tables with the iPads/pumps, so we just sat outside in the rain and got hammered. So top hole, frankly!

We should book a techno table and go back.

"Taps" in Manchester is the same dealio, with the same "plan your sloshings weeks in advance" effect.
