A mate of mine recommended the Scott Siglar Podiobooks. Mix of Scifi and fantasy and in one case American Football :)

Is there any that you folks listen to.

(sorry if a duplicate thread)

It is basically audio books, split into podcasts.

I did not make the word up. :DD

Poidiobooks.com is has quite a few 'books' on there.

Really dont like the word / title

However - I can recommend : http://www.audible.com/ as a source - and as for the books themselves its pretty much just want you would want to read anyway - so what books / authors do you like ?

I do like my fantasy and sci fi.

David Gemmel is one of my favs for Fantasy
Richard Morgan for Sci fi

But I am open to any suggestions, the cheaper the better :)

I'm going to chop great works of literature into sentences, and tweet them, and then text-to-speech them via an RSS feed and call them Audiotweetobookcastpods.

Also, if you sign up for Audible, go through quidco and get some cash back! Or go through a worthy causes' referral link.

:D

I got a Master & Commander audiobook from somewhere, as read Siegfried from All Creatures Great and Small. Didn't realise until after getting it that it was a abridged version that chomped out whole big sections, so watch out for that!

The old Union Dues podcasts are linked to in a post on the forum, somewhere.

Gemmell was the author who got me hooked on fantasy, his death was a bummer. Am enjoying the stuff by Brandon Sanderson at the moment, got onto him because he is finishing off the Wheel of Time series (woot, last one is out in 3 months :DD), his standalone book Warbreaker is one of the best bits of fantasy i have read in a long time, also worth looking at his Mistborn trilogy, good solid work, gets a bit twee at times.

Will have to have a look at Richard Morgan, don't think i have read any of his work. Iain M. Banks is my Sci fi author of choice, and has been for along time, think the 1st book of his i read was The Player of Games, which breaks you into his culture universe very nicely.

He's really, really good.
Altered Carbon is one of the best books I've ever read, and is easily the best SciFi book.

:this: I will dig this out again.

It should be a film or a series at least.

Might as well chuck this one in as well

http://cthulhupodcast.blogspot.com/

Podcast that not only does Lovecraft novels and short stories as podcasts but other Mythos authors as well.

If your local library has a decent audiobook section, it's well worth spending the pound or two to borrow one then ['somehow' - ed.] listen to it on your mp3 player. Just remember to turn 'shuffle' off.

EDIT: some places can loan audio books online too - ask a friendly librarian.
