A colleague's sons have had a fight and smashed up each other's iThings such that the screens are bust. Can anyone recommend a good repair outfit? Ta.

It's not too hard to do it yourself. I managed it with a kit that cost about £15 (for an iPhone 3G) from eBay, and although it is a bit of a faff, it's fairly easy if you follow the instructions. I think it's harder (and more expensive) if the touch "bit" is broken as well as the screen, though.

Not sure if iPads are harder or easier.

I hope he's repairing them to sell them on.

Yeah I don't think he fancies trying to DIY it. To be honest I'm not sure I would with an iPad either, despite being fairly handy with that sort of thing.

Also they aren't generally awful and they'll be paying to get them fixed out of their savings.

There are iPad kits about for about 30 quid, but it looks like a pretty significant bit of work. Probably not for the faint hearted.

It's a lot harder on the iPhone 4/4S, too. You have to start at the back and dissemble the whole thing.
