I'm bored. Tell us something interesting, would you?

Something like this. There is a battery operated bell in Oxford, that has been continuously ringing since 1840. It is estimated that the bell has rung over 10 billion times.
The composition of the battery is only assumed, rather than known.

Every 2 days the human race creates as much data as we did from the dawn of civilization until 2003.

In size its around 5 Exabyte's or 5 Billion GB of data a day.

Probably a lot more than this now as this was from the CEO of Google in 2010.

Found the article the other day and though it was mind blowing

Along those line, here's a SFW article (apart from the text, obv) about just how much data porn sites shift: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/12 ... porn-sites

This is mind blowing how many galaxy's and stars there out there.

They are saying that one galaxy is so big and has so many stars it shouldn't exist according to laws of physics

I have just been shown how Rolls-Royce test jet engines, from my office window I can see a Trent 900.

The thrust is engaged by a big silver throttle.

I want to say make it so....

I saw that on Mythbusters. It's impressive, but a little less impressive when you get to the footnote that it now burns at 4w brightness, where it started off at 60w. How dim does it have to get to not be a light bulb anymore, it doesn't actually light anything.

The statue of Cromwell outside Parliament is directly facing a small carving of Charles I's head.

It was abolished in the US Navy in 1862. The Confederates got one thing right - rum all round in the CS Navy.

So this guy writes an essay for a civics course about an amendment to the US constitution that never got ratified and how it potentially still could be even after over 200 years. He got a C. Pissed off about that, he spent twenty years lobbying state legislatures and got it past the remaining states that were needed to ratify it as a real constitutional amendment. What a cool story.

Amazon came along dropped an echo dot into it and licensed it from LG.
