I went for a meal at Steakhouse in Watford the other week (2 for one groupon!). The hot rock jobbies are incredibally cool. It's a very entertaining way to cook your food, and it ensures it's cooked how you like it. BONUS POINTS are awarded to this cooking method as it means you can cook chunks of the steak at a time, with any rare bits actually being warm, rather than sat-under-the-heat-lamp-for-5-minutes lukecold.

Anyway: I'd like some for home. Does anybody know where I can buy some? Can I just go to B&Q and buy random garden rocks then put them in my oven? This site claims they're heated to 440c, which might have been true given the heat they gave off, but I reckon my little whirlpool oven on 225c is up to the task.

Ooh! There's a restaurant near the Nurburgring that does this and I've always wanted to go. Suppose Watford is a little closer...

Why on earth would you want to warm food on jobbies!? :spew:

Pretty sure the cast iron pan I cook steak on gets a fair bit over 225. I'm not convinced it would work.

No idea where you'd buy one but if people are looking for other locations where you can get this and would like to try it I've had one from here : http://thebroadface.co.uk/s_foodanddrink.asp and i liked it
