So, I read a lot of books. Loads of them. Mostly low-rent sci-fi dross, frankly. To the point where I enjoy them, but never really remember titles or authors.

Is there anywhere that collates and alerts when authors release new books? I'd like to go "Yes, enjoyed that book. I'll add that author to my list so when he publishes a new book, I'll know about it"?

Never used it, but have a look at this site:

Nice, thanks. Books that appear on Amazon only, but a good start.

Are there books that don't?

Pretty sure Goodreads does this, in amongst tons of other nice features.

I had a look on Goodreads, but couldn't find an alerts part. If it's on there then I'd second the recommendation as it's likely I just missed what I was looking for.

There apparently also used to be author alerts on Amazon, but following a couple of Internet mentions if how to set them up they appear to be gone.

:this:

No indication on there. Tried looking under an author's page, but nothing to see.

I believe this is what you want. Forgive the PDF instructions: http://www.nielsenbookdata.co.uk/upload ... Alerts.pdf

It does look good. Appears you have to pay for it though, and seems strangely reluctant to tell you how much.
