For a couple of months now I've been having a nightmare updating my apps from the AppStore. Say there are five updates available, I'll set them all off and I'll invariably get an "unable to download update" error for at least one of the apps.

Not such a huge problem in and of itself, except it renders the app unusable. The update progress bar on the app icon appears (empty) and won't go. This obviously means I can't use the app. Tapping it pauses or resumes the update but doesn't actually do anything, and going into the AppStore and updating again results in the error. The only fix is to delete the app!

I'm getting through apps at a bit of a rate here. Soon I won't have any left. What's the fucking deal with this? I can't be arsed to re-download the stuff I've deleted because I can't actually remember what they were.

Do I need to give it an iTunes sync or something?

Have you tried restarting the phone?

Is your phone up to date?

This usually works for me, in the rare cases it has happened. It's annoying.

Yes to both questions. What do you think I am?!

Anyway, I've done a bit of searching around and a 'delete all settings' was recommended, so I've done that. I've also cleaned out a whole load of apps. I did have over a hundred - probably close to two, to be fair. Everything is all up to date now as a result, so I'll just have to wait and see if it worked!

To find what you've previously downloaded go into the Updates tab in the app store and click the Purchased button.

Yeah cheers Russ I forgot about that. At least I can go and grab some of my deleted apps as and when I fancy playing them.

Tangentially related:

Once again the lack of a simple process to roll back app updates from the Appstore is demonstrated to be completely, utterly, moronic.

Meh, why would you expect some seamless process for that? What other platform has an easy way to roll back updates? I mean it would be useful in some rare scenarios (like this one obviously) but I don't think I'd call it moronic not to have one.

The platform that hosts Beex does ;)
Although not for Beex itself.

Actually, doesn't Steam allow you to remove updates?

In the Playground, devs can update their software in minutes if they need to roll back. Can you do that on iTunes, or does everything need to be re-vetted?
