Hello nerds,

I'm trying to find the right way to build a 'box' containing an image with a link that always sits in the middle left of the browser window as you scroll up and down the page. I don't want to simply add another column on the left and set the image to 'middle' as that would push the central table out to the right. Couldn't think of a way to describe this to search online without it bringing up CSS floats, although maybe that's what I need to do.

Any guidance/help appreciated.

x

CSS fixed positioning might work:

Cool, would that 'float' above the page design as it is though? It's all tables.

Yeah, you might need to use the z-index to tell it to be on top. Someone might have a better way though as it's been a while since I've done anything much except SharePoint stuff really.

Also, using position:fixed doesn't always work properly on iOS devices, if that's a concern.

Could you not tell people to print it out and glue it to their monitor?

You fucking idiot, they'd have to glue it to the INSIDE of their monitor.

Got it sorted last night, cheers Mark.

Tested it on my iPod too, Gaz... it doesn't work quite as well but not bad enough for me to throw more time at it. :)
