Be Excellent To Each Other

Well I went to see that last night. Bloody brilliant - the best animated movie I've seen.
Excellently written, I'd forgotten I was a Tin Tin fan but this really did it justice. The action sequences were hilarious too.

I feel ashamed to admit it but I wouldn't mind seeing this again in 3D.

Yeah, it looks really good from the ads I've seen. I was a big fan of the books / cartoons as a kid.

Bloody hell. I honestly don't know Tintin from a hole in the ground, but that was a fucking awesome, and incredibly professionally done title sequence. No wonder he was offered a job!

I've always been a fan of Tintin so will lap up the blu-ray of this next year.

I also got the 360 game the other week and that's terrific fun.

Yes, it was good, but it should still have had the shouty bloke ...

I saw Tintin a few days ago and it really was terrific. The adverts are accurate in comparing it to Indiana Jones.

It's also pretty much the only film I've seen in 3d apart from Avatar that has been worth the extra expense. Beautifully sharp and subtle.

I really want to see this now.

I really want to see this and take First Born. He;s probably not old enough, but hell, this looks awesome.

I think the only reason why this is a PG is because it contains (very minor spoiler) Sure, there are a couple of short fist fights and some deaths but isn't scary at all. It's only about 100mins long, so they shouldn't get bored either. I'd say if the youngster was 6 or more, they'd be fine.

Heh. The Boy's 5, and of hearty constitution. We've had very stern conversations with him about the boozing, and he knows he's not allowed to do that until he can grow a beard. As he keeps telling me when I drink before shaving.

My main reservation would be whether a 5 year old could actually follow the story - as with most kids' films, to be fair.

Doesn't actually matter. There's some properly spine-tingling fucking awesome bits in it from the cgi alone, he'll remember it forever. Must see.

Following the story may be an issue. The film's only problem is it's all a bit breathless. The story does seem rushed at times, probably because of the vast expense of rendering each frame. Unlike most modern films, this one could do with being 5 or 10 minutes longer.

It's a great film though - The boy should love it.

Right, we're going. He's previously demonstrated can well understand awesome cinematic moments even when he doesn't understand the underlying plot - as an example, he loved Empire without understanding it.

Animated series rather than the film, but you can get all 21 episodes for £9.99 which seems a decent price.

Watched this earlier - absolutely bloody amazing. Visually stunning, true to the style and spirit of the books (which I've loved since a kid), and just all round excellent fun. Big grin on my face at the end, and I could easily watch this again right away.

Waiting for this to appear on Sky Movies. I bloody love Tin Tin. But evidently not quite enough to actively pursue seeing it.

Its worth it, a bloody great version of Tin tin, snowy is still full of win

So... why is TinTin good, what's the premise and why is this film good apart from it has good CGI?

I tell you what I'd like to see in 1080p 3D... Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. I know it's not a great story but it's one of my best ever cinema experiences. Waling out of Oxford Road Manchester Odeon after that and Matrix I felt changed. Mental looking thing.

Spirits within is a great story. Better than Advent Children anywya. But 3D? Hell no.

If you're not careful you'll end up as the new Nirhinjerenge.

Snowy isn't annoying - he's ace and brave and clever.

Captain Haddock is a great character, and is rotten drunk a great deal of the time in the books (also this film). He also curses a lot.

The books are terrific fun - he has cracking adventures all over the world, solves crimes, flies planes and biffs bad guys.

The film is excellent and I watched it again yesterday.

I used to love the Tintin books when I was young but was worried this CGI version wouldn't feel right and might spoil it for me. Starling makes me think it may be very much worth checking out x

I would say to anyone, if you loved the books, you should lap up the film. It really captures the spirit and adventure and humour of the books.

And you were saying in your first post that a reason not to read/watch Tin tin was it was French.....

I loved the Asterix books, but the cartoons were bobbins. And don't get me started on the live action films.
