Demo's dropped, I enjoyed it. I was worried that without Starbreeze, it would suck... but it seems like they've changed up the combat a little, and its very satisfying. I just hope there are hub areas like in the first. Nice new art style too.

Oh and Mike 'Freaky voice for hire' Patton is back!

Mike Patton's voice acting was the only good thing about the first game IMO. Well, granted the underlying concept was a decent one, but it wasn't executed well enough (opinion!) and the multiplayer component was cringingly bad (fact!). I'm going to have to hear jaw-droppingly good reviews of this before I even consider playing it.

The first one was worse than Saints Row 2 - that's all you need to know, really. I am not going anywhere near this.

I really enjoyed the first one. Saints Row 2 was great as well. Myp: wrong about games since forever.

I thought the first one was ok. It was one of the first 360 games I'd played though.

Mike Patton is a cunt though.

One of those games I've bought for a quid and not got round to yet, Darkness 1. I LOVED Riddick on XBox though, and am not sure where to play Athena or Darkness first for my next Starbreeze fix. I'm somewhat mangay for a bit of Mike Patton though, perhaps that should sway me.

I thought the first one was most dull. I didn't really play it for long, though.

I played the first one for about 10 minutes before turning it off. Boring as hell. I am hearing good murmurings about this, though.

The Darkness was one of the earliest games I got for the Xbox and I'm struggling to remember it, which can't be a good sign.

The demo is promising: I thought the shooting was reasonable and the darkness was fun to whip the goons and throw them aboot. It felt really nice without overpowering the character. I can't remember how you interacted with the darkness in the first game but it must be similar to this one though. Blam blam smack whoosh ratatatatat grrrrrr arghhhh. Lovely.

The demo was well worth a blast though even though the execution moves began to grate, as did collecting hearts. I felt compelled to stop and pick up the hearts when I should have been murdering my way through the streets. Fuck knows why the hearts couldn't be auto collected. And the same button is used to do that and pick weapons up off the floor which pissed me off more than it should as I kept swapping my pistol for another pistol. Tch.

Anyway, with the new art style and gory blood splattered comic book nature of it, I really enjoyed it. Might be worth a punt if the campaign's long enough to hold your attention.

Download the demo peeps.

Exactly :this:
I gave it a couple of hours, but the most entertaining thing about it was watching TV at my girlfriend's flat. Or maybe it was my flat. I can't remember.

It was her flat and she'd made you a cake, so it must have been your Birthday, or something.

Wasn't so keen on the demo. Lets go raid my tweets from last night to remember why.

On the PC version, the menu and subtitles text is upscaled at 1920x1080, looks like they've designed the text to be viewed at 720p. Also, that upgrade menu is atrocious on the PC, you aren't just allowed to use the mouse to click on the thing you want, you have to use the "N" and "M" key to rotate the wheel thing. No idea why those keys, you don't use them for anything else.

The game runs great on PC though, although I'm not too fond of the artstyle. Starbreeze's game looked way better I think, and I miss their weirdo lighting.

It seems quite keen on overlong cinematic takedowns and ripping control away from you.

The shooting feels quite nice though, and the tentacle stuff is fun, if a little fiddly.

Supposedly the demo is not that indicative of the rest of the game though, which wouldn't surprise me too much. It's obviously got tutorial bits, but also the full game doesn't flip between different scenes in the way the demo constantly does.

Just played this and quite enjoyed it. The pseudo cel-shaded graphics are nice in the opening sequence, though they get lost a bit once you're running around. It's gratifyingly easy to switch from gunning thugs down to slapping them and picking them up with the Darkness tendril things; and slicing people in half from miles away by hurling car door at them or pinning them to walls with thrown spikes is excellent fun. The dual-wielding of weapons seem a bit pointless and oddly implemented and the execution animations go on faaaaar too long. So, yeah, fun for what little you get. I'm not sure if I'll pick this up but I'll be interested enough to check out the reviews.

Out now, apparently. Getting some alright reviews an' all, not that I've spent any time reading them.

The highlights are:

6 hour campaign.
You'll only play the campaign once.
Separate 4 player co-op campaign though,
Above average.
Nowt special though.

They didn't listen to my tweet about having hearts auto collected and because of that I'll not be picking it up. Dicks.
