Ok, so some of you may remember I started this thread back on WoS before the schism. For those of you who don't, I'm playing in a charity football match at Meadow Lane (Notts County's ground), which was organised to celebrate a colleague's life who sadly died last year.

Well, the match is this Sunday (tickets still available from all good myps) and my plan was to slim down from a slightly chunky 13st 10lbs to 12st 7lbs. I am pleased to announce that with just three days to go, I am currently weighing in at 12st 9 3/4lbs!

Obviously, I am very pleased with my efforts, but I'm not quite there yet. Whatever happens, I plan to keep this going until I am 12st after the event.

Share your weight loss stories here!

Good show, Myp!

I've lost a quarter stone in the last week and a half (down to 11 1/4 from 11 1/2) merely by cutting out alcohol and snacks (I fancied a detox week)and continuing with the running. Quite worryingly sharp drop there, really. Not least as I didn't actually need to lose any weight.

Quick! To the pies!

I can only assume you are very dense in the torso, as you look like a stick insect over eggbox.

You'll lose it quite quickly early on as most of it will be fluid, so don't worry about it so much. I lost 8lbs in the first two weeks! It took me another six to lose the other 6lbs.

I don't mean to cut you down Chris, but I can lose a quarter of a stone by simply going to the loo

Anyway, my scales reckon I'm 90kg, which is on the beefy side. I once got down to a fairly trim 76kg (although according to a standard BMI chart my ideal is supposedly 71) and then put it all back on. Gnah.

As soon as I get over this 'I've run a marathon, I'm sitting on my arse and eating for two weeks' phase, I'll go back to the gym and go out for a couple of runs. I've a few 10k races coming up soon, so assuming I don't keep going to mcdonalds for lunch, my situation should improve ;)

Hey, I wasn't proud of it or anything. I'm not trying to lose weight as I'm thin enough already. It was just a scary amount to lose so quickly and unexpectedly.

But a 1/4 stone poo is a frightening thing to consider.

I accidentally went for a 10k run yesterday lunchtime, as I got lost*. Was good fun, actually, and haven't done one for a while (usual distance in the lunch hour is 4 to 5 miles). I may enter the Bristol 10k in a few weeks for a laff.

*I worked out the distance on the most excellent http://www.walkjogrun.net, a pedometer type thing using google maps. Go use it!

I have a very nice GPS Watch that I use to track distances for me :)

Heart rate monitoring is particularly fun, as you can plot it using a handy online resource that also analyses all kinds of other crap from the run. I can see, roughly, over time how my heart rate improves over certain distances at certain speeds. It also gives min/max/average speed, elevation etc etc.

When I started back in Feb I was 14st 7 and now having trained fairly hard and eaten well I am, erm 14st 8.

Bit misleading really as I've put on some muscle thanks to whey protein and lifting for gains rather than tone and gone down two notches on my belt but it's still a bit off putting when you actually put on a pound after all that.

I'm doing more CV work though now as I've got the 3 peaks walk to do in July which will murder me if I don't get into better shape from a fitness rather than bodyshape point of view.

I've decided to resolve to shift a bit of weight, just to improve the running, n' that. I started yesterday, where I had some skittles and a kitkat. It has not started well. :munkeh:

I need to shift some myself too. I'd lost a bit after 8 weeks without booze but after having plenty of wine for GJ's and then my own birthday, I've got a taste back for it again.. oops.

Mum bought me some bathroom scales for my birthday. :'(

Are they digital? Digital ftw.

I've entirely sat on my arse since the marathon, which I can tell already is not working out well. I've also had something like 6 McDonalds in that time, and at least one BK. Must stop.

I keep on meaning to lose some weight and become the svelte figure I used to be... but I'm really just very lazy. The only reason I manage to keep at around or just under 13 stone is that I have to walk up a steep hill every day to get home.

I have now decided that seeing as my double chin is now gone from this Monday onwards I'm in "bulking" mode which means eating shitloads and downing protein like it's going out of fashion and lifting even heavier weights. I'll do that for May and maybe June then go CV crazy in July.

So I actually intend to gain weight now - so 14st 8lb and away we go. I hope to be half a stone heavier but a lot fitter and less puny by 31st July.

I can't*, that bit was a joke (however, I could do with exercising which may build up muscle mass, thereby increasing weight)

* - Well, I can if people overfeed me to the point of severe pain. I reached 61kg, having had a month of feeling very ill from eating too much. Which then dropped back to the usual 54kg shortly afterwards.

Ah, I thought it was a joke. Sorry for spoiling it.

Sounds like a good plan, though. There's the Bristol Half Marathon later in the year, too.

Hmm..I might have to get my own copy of that soon. The scales I mentioned further up in the thread have yet to be used but I reckon I've got 4-5 stone to shift.

(Not that my scales 'do' stones anyway)

According to Wii Fit, I steadily lose weight during the week (when I bother to exercise) and pile it all back on at the weekends (when I drink and snack and don't usually exercise). I don't think I needed to spend £70 to work that out.

I'd not actually wanted to lose any weight, but as I've not been drinking for the last couple of weeks I've lost a couple of pounds. Am somewhere south of 11 1/2 stone, being 6 ft tall.

I was briefly down to 12 and a half stone, my lowest in ages... but then my ankle-knack has stopped me exercising. I have no idea what I weigh now... probably back up to 13.

The Missus has lost a fairly incredible 4st 1lb recently, which is awesome. It does mean, however, that she has to keep on buying new clothes as her old ones get too big really quickly. I'm fairly sure it's all just a ploy to get me to give her shopping money.

I generally don't put on much weight either, having been around 9 1/2 stone for ages and ages. But after eating better and exercising more I'm within touching distance of 10 stone. I'm quite tall though (5'11 and a half - let's call it 6', eh chums?) so still look like a lanky streak of piss. I do feel a lot better and healthier though.

I'm thinking about taking up running for a bit of extra fitness, with a view to maybe training up to do a marathon one day.

That really is excellent. Ange managed to shift 8 stone in two years before she met me - she was 19st at her heaviest.

I've been injured recently, so haven't been doing any sports. I'm around 13st again now. :(

15st 4lb so well on the way. Alas a pound or two or that has gone back on to my stomach.

I am necking protein shakes at a steady rate which leads to a rather high amount of unfeasibly smelly farts. The wife is over the moon.

In my case it's more a case of of how well my jeans fit me. They can go from comfortably baggy to uncomfortably tight within a month or two. Work trousers are also a pain in the arse (not literally) because the waist rating is wildy different to regular jeans, so often I buy trousers with the same measurements as my jeans, and they don't bloody fit. Moan moan etc.

I've always found the best way to lose weight is to replace food with cigarettes. For example, instead of a cheese and ham croissant with a coffee for breakfast, I just have a cigarette and a coffee. This has the effect of shrinking my stomach over the course of the morning, meaning that a sandwich from pret at lunch (with a cigarette before and after) will leave me feeling positively bloated. Finish off with some sensible food for dinner (but don't eat too late), and you'll rapidly shed the pounds without ever feeling hungry.

Of course, cigarettes may also need to be used as a substitute for any snack cravings during the day. Chewing gum afterwards will take away any pleasant after taste, and also further trick your body into believing you've just eaten some proper food.

The health police will hate me for it, but this works! Of course, if you're genuinely concerned about being fit, rather than just looking better naked, then the above is not so useful.

Either everything will balance out and you'll remain at pretty much the same weight you are now, or you'll become a fat smoker, then probably die. :(

We need an experiment! Craster eat 10,000 calories and smoke three packs a day, and someone else neither eat nor smoke, as a control. I'll make the bar charts.
