Hi all,

I bought MW3 from tesco online and as my live subs were going to run out yesterday I purchased the years subs with them too as part of their launch offer. They arrived separately, mw3 was fine but instead of the subs they sent me points.

I've had to send them back and wait for a replacement which still hasn't arrived and now I can't use xbox live to its full capacity

Would anyone possibly have a spare code for 48hrs access or maybe even a week?

I would be very grateful!!

Do they still do the £1 for a month thing via the dashboard?

Problem is that it's recurring, and you have to ring them up to cancel it.

I'm sure i've also got a 48 hour code somewhere which i could send you tonight (in fact i think i got one in a recent game - have you checked there isnt one in the box?)

Is it actually £1? That would be cheaper than an annual sub. Unless I'm missing something obvious?

I guess it's £1 for the first month and £6 thereafter, or maybe it's just another zee-belm.

I think the offer is that you sign up for a month at £1(*)

(*) means they then will charge you something like £45 yearly after that first month is up unless you cancel it

That's good to know. It was not fun getting my card details removed from my account a couple of years ago, but I see you can do that through the website as well now.

They've changed that recently to make it possible to cancel a recurring subscription via the website. Citation:

Those "48 hour access" codes usually only work on accounts that have never had Gold, in my experience. So they're likely of no use to you, Mr Hobbs.

Nope, I used one recently on my account when it reverted to Silver.

Huh, interesting. I've had the opposite situation -- my account reverted to Silver, and a tried a couple of those codes and none of them worked. I mentioned it at the time and a few people had also experienced this. That was years back though.

I have a spare 48 hour code if you need it.

But surely £12 a year is a bargain and you'd never want to cancel it?

Perkies got 3 years worth for £36* because it glitched at first. It's £1 the first month now, then £6 each month after.

This should be tested where we get four people to recover their profile to one console, buy the family license, and then transfer them back to their original console.

It works fine.

Me, MrsPaz, my brother and his wife all have Gold through a family pack.

Via recovering profiles to the one console and then buying the family pack, then recovering back to your own console?

Didn't have to recover anything. Just had to give live details (email/password) of each account at time of purchase.

There are caveats though. One of the accounts is the 'Daddy' account and has control over the others for example.

The 'daddy' can dish out MS points and restrict access. AFAIK, the kiddy accounts can be made unrestricted with a bit of tweaking

My step sone who is 12 has a kiddie account, and when he is in 'trouble' I switch his age limit on... so no COD, BATMAN etc

I'm just going off the top of my head, it was something like £65 for a years subscription for 4 peeps when I took it out last year. Due to not being able to remove my creditcard via the website a few years back I vowed never to register my card with the bastards again, but since the only way to get the family sub was by credit card I had to change my stance since it was such a saving. Basically not only did we get 4 accounts for approx the price of two, but whatever time we had left on our current subs, they would give us something like 2/3 on the family account. ie if I had a full 12 months then the family pack would be credited 8 months for frees.

Unfortunately, as a parent, its annoying that the control over the other accounts isnt as good as it could be. eg, you cant say give kid A a 10 hour allowance a week for good behavior and only 5 hours to kid B cos he's done something to annoy you. You can only assign a number of hours to a console, regardless of user/s.

Craster has pm'ed me a code and I've had a dispatch email from Tesco so I'm sorted now.
