Starting this for Rach as she's probably puking over people on Rita about now.

As the title says really, we're going to Chester Zoo on 5th November, then off for a Chinese afterwards.

If anyone would like to join us that would be supurb, but could you let us know numbers for food as Rach may need to book a table at the Chinese.

What sort of time would you be thinking about kicking off at the zoo?

Mid to late morning, about 10 maybe? It'll take us a couple of hours to get over from Nottingham.

That would be a long trip to the zoo if you're planning to go out for dinner in the evening.

Just trying to work out if we did come up whether it would be better to stop in a hotel the night before or the night after.

I did my LPC at Chester. Is Rosie's still the single best and worst club there? Many nights I was downing Bacardi Breezers while standing on the stage getting shoved about trying to dance to the Abba medley for the fifth time that night.

As far as Myp & I are concerned this is definitely more of a daytime event - he's got to play baseball on the Sunday so we're not staying over in Chester & don't want to be back too late on the Saturday night. And I think GJ is bringing Chloe (correct me if I'm wrong chick) so I'd guess she's thinking along similar lines.

The way I was planning the day out in my head was going to the zoo mid to late morning then go for food early evening. I'm open to other suggestions though :)

Fermented apples have regenerative properties. I knew a girl, and whenever she got a prick, she put it in cider.

My hockey fixtures seem to suggest my club will need all the players it can get so I'm a probably not, but thinking about it. It may be that I could show up after for Chinese and a drink or two, although obviously the earlier the planned finish then the less worthwhile it becomes. I could probably play stickball and make it for 4 or not much after...

I could actually make this, as it's not too far away from (North) Wales, and thus accessible by train in one day.

Hmm.

Depends if you'd want an early start or a late finish.

I can't make this. It's too far. When is it?

Okay then, this is the Chinese that we are going to;

The Slow Boat

I'm going to start adding names to the first post so we have an idea of numbers, Rach will be booking a table for food, and if there is enough of us we can get discount at the zoo. :)

The zoo is open 10 till 4 and we are going to try and head there for opening. The Chinese is open 5.30 till 11, I should imagine we would get there earlier rather than later?

Isn't seven hours a long time to spend at a zoo?

Possibly. :P Although I genuinely have no idea how big the place is.

Has anyone been recently? Meems maybe?

The zoo is pretty big. Plenty to do. Failing that, car parks in Chester are free after 3pm so we can go into town for a drink/wander.

I have been. It was big and ace and we were there from 10am-5:30pm. You MUST bring waterproofs as it will rain and you'll be miserable and damp all day. Also comfortable shoes.

The restaurant inside is about £7 for a burger/veggie burger & chips.

We're staying loosey goosey. It depends on what time the meal starts.

Also... I hate Chinese food

GJ - could you take Myp off the lists please? He's wimping out as he's got to go to manage his first baseball game on the Sunday and he doesn't want to be too knackered, which is fair enough really. However, I'll still be in attendance, but I'm trying to find someone else to come with me as I've never driven that far on my own and I'm concerned about falling asleep on the way back 8)

I'm excited for the monkeys and the lions and the tigers and the elephants and the giraffes. :munkeh:

Done, but I was under the impression that this is going to be more of a daytime thing anyway, I figured we'd probably eating around 6ish? Then those that wanted to would head off after that?

That's good timing for the meal, I'd guess. I imagine we'll be finished eating by then, hopefully, and the station isn't far from there. If you really like Chinese food, by all means come along.
