Saw this in a mag and thought it might be a good one for us to have a go at. Let's give it two weeks so that makes it the 12th of October.

You want a picture that I have taken of something within ten minutes from my house? Is that right?

Correction Michael, something that you WILL take.

Also, it'd be neat if we make this a hard and fast 'ten minutes', as in count off the minutes and when you enter the tenth you've got a sixty second walking-speed radius to shoot something. You can head in any direction, but it HAS to be TEN MINUTES FROM HOME. Otherwise everyone's just going to photograph the garden.

Also, ten minutes by car, bus, train, plane, hot air-balloon also acceptable.

What if I drive around the block for ten minutes, then take a picture of the garden?!

No, because that would be ten minutes away-towards. We're looking for ten minutes AWAY.

What if I drive ten minutes away v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, then take a picture of the garden with a telephoto(Alright, that's enough of that! Ed.)

What if my garden is so big that I can walk in it for 10 minutes?

I'll have a go at this when we get back to Australia, currently we are in the UK visiting family an ting.

I've just done this.

But got much better pics in the 15-30 minutes after.

I'll probably do it again, or cheat.

Also: in the last minute of my walk I was perpendicular to my lodgings, is this permissible?

Does it have to be ten minutes exactly? What if I walk to a castle near my home and reach there in nine minutes? Do I have to carry on walking and take a photograph of a vandalised skip instead?

That or you could just rotate yourself 180 degrees.

One would imaine it might be tricky taking a photo whilst doing a handstand. I think only Throughsilver could do it.

That just about falls into the "walking" category, I fear.

If the castle is 9 mins then you can use your free 60 seconds to turn around. That or find something interesting about the skip.

So I went out and took mine today, the subject was not exactly unexpected because it was taken in what the girl and I call squirrel lane so it as a question of sitting down and waiting.

Unexpectedly, I prefer the b+w one there. It's a lovely shot. I think the colour one is perhaps a bit too saturated for my tastes.

My office is 10 minutes walk from home. So it counts, but it makes for a dull photo.

YANG on. Those looking like the desks in our office. And that looks like the carpet we have too.

I'd be worried you were stalking me were it not for that office looking like noone works there.

I was just sneaky. The desk with all the H&S gear on it is vacant at the moment and the rest had buggered off somewhere. Good job really, as my phone had come out of silent mode (again) and there was a loud shutter click sound as I took the photo.

Ok, on a grey Sunday afternoon I stepped out of Kern Hall, set my timer to 10 minutes, and walked at my usual pace for as far as I could go in the time.



I might take some other routes when I get the chance - it's a great little challenge!
