Got this preordered and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a bit pissed off though, my wheel for the 360 seems to have broken so I've had to order it for the PS3 (might have to see if I can fix my 360 wheel as the new season coop and time attack thing looks really good) :(

Anyone else getting it as this might affect my choice of platform?

Nah, can't justify it. After moaning that Fifa 12 isn't much different to Fifa 09, I can't go and spunk £40 on this, considering I've barely scratched the surface on F1 2010.

Course you can and anyway it's only £35 in Blockbusters, less the fiver you'd probably get for 2010.

Wullie should get it also and Zardoz too because unlike karting it doesn't penalise obesity.

Hmm, changed my preorder to 360 as I've heard reports that the PS3 version might be a bit flaky. I've also had to order a new (to me) racing wheel from CEX as mine is properly brokened. Although flogging my PS3 wheel on ebay should more than cover it.

It's a shame there isn't a decent wheel that works with both consoles. There's no way I'm getting a 2nd one, and there's no way I'm playing GT5 with a joypad.

I've gone right off GT5, the car handling is good but not as good as Race Pro and the single player racing is just atrocious, so I'm hopeful that with the handling being reported as so much better in F1 2011 that it'll be the game I'm after. I've also come to the conclusion that I don't care much for collecting hundreds of cars or painting them or customising them. So I'll probably be giving Forza 4 a swerve too as it seems to be marketed more for its car porn than the actual driving. Just give me one or two cars that are actually fun to drive and some decent opponents.

I won't be getting FM4 for the simple fact I've barely touched FM3.

But it's got Warthogs, Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear test track and you can wave your arms around in front of the telly to open the car doors.

SOLD...

...to someone else. I'm vaguely interested, but I seem to have gone off driving games in general lately.

I saw this reviewed on some tv program called 'playr' or something on sky tv. hey gave it 8.5/10 and said it was pretty good. I suspect one might need a wheel and pedals to get the best from it, though, and it looked pretty tricky, so that's me out.

Been playing this a fair bit over the weekend. Really, really enjoying it so far, the handling tweaks have made it much more fun to drive (though still not really on par with Race Pro) and I've had some brilliant battles to get a few precious points. They've also sorted out some of the other problems which afflicted last year's effort. So the opponents you are racing on the track actually seem directly related to the times being posted rather than just being obstacles and window dressing as they often were in 2010.

However I've read about (though not yet encountered myself) a number of whole new problems. I hope they have the sense to fix some of these issues and not just move straight on to developing the 2012 title or else they'll lose nearly all their customers, this one included.

There's a bug with the setup where if you adjust some settings to a certain value then it'll go impossibly fast around all the corners. Some people have been beaten by cars which never pitted throughout the race. Some strange AI behaviour and bizarre application of some of the rules. Cars "exploding" after running over kerbs. People going in the pits to find no team there and just having to quit out. Numerous graphical glitches and performance problems on the PC version but then what PC game thread isn't full of those?

I've run quite a few races though and encountered none of this. The worst I've seen is that the AI seem to struggle to pass you sometimes even when you try and help them because you're being shown a blue flag.

It looks gorgeous on the TV ads, but I fear I won't touch it. I barely have the patience these days to play "fun" racing games, let alone quasi-realistic ones. I too barely touched Forza 3 and NFS Hot Pursuit remains 1/4 finished. I haven't put significant time into a racer since Burny Pee.

I think it's probably because you've been so busy picking Song Wars songs.

Burny Pee is a racer that happens to have other modes as well. I mean, if it weren't a racing game, it wouldn't have been eligible to win the following awards:

Quote:
BEST RACING GAME
Game Critics Awards 2007—Best of E3

BEST RACING GAME
Gamespot E3 07 Editor's Choice Awards

BEST RACING GAME
ign.com Best of E3 2007 Awards

BEST RACING GAME
GameTrailers.com Best Of E3 2007 Awards

BEST RACING and BEST ONLINE MULTIPLAYER
Nominee, Kotaku.com Best of E3: Our Picks

Given quite how disillusioned I've become with F1 as a whole, I'll probably pass on this

Although the title race has been non-existent. I think last year's was more exciting in that respect, as any one of four drivers could have won it going into the last race.

Ferrari and McLaren really need to give their drivers a more competitive car next year, or a top team needs to give di Resta a seat.

I'm sure they will try. It's the nature of F1, though. And although Vettel is way out in front on points it is because he has hardly made any mistakes, second and third are McLaren (Button) and Ferrari (Alonso). The differences between the cars are minute when compared with some of the "classic" seasons.

Indeed, Vettel has just been a machine this year. The fact that Webber, Button, Hamilton and Alonso are so close on points shows that it isn't all just the car.

I'm not a fan of Vettel in the slightest, but respect must be given that his driving is in a different class to everyone else this year.

Hamilton driving crazy, Button coming from last to the front in one race, Webbers pass at Spa etc... this season has been full of fun :D

Well that wasn't a surprise, was it?
I'm disappointed Button didn't say something like "well, I did my bit, but the nine guys behind me let me right down."
