There is a new burnout coming to PSN/XBLA. It is called Burnout: Crash.

It is not a new crash mode-centric burnout.

It is this:

Here's the blurb:
Quote:
Criterion has gone back to their roots with Burnout™ CRASH! by bringing Burnout's fan-favourite Crash mode to the forefront, adding new gameplay and exciting features to let players compete with their friends while embracing their road rage.

POWERED BY AUTOLOG
Powered by the award winning Autolog technology, players will be able to connect, compete and compare high scores to earn the master of disaster crown, as well as using the all new Autolog Challenges to go head to head asynchronously with their friends.

EASY TO LEARN, HARD TO MASTER
Burnout™ CRASH! packs countless hours of reckless chaos into an easy to pick up, but difficult to master gameplay experience. There are three explosive game modes available across six unique locations and 18 crash junctions, each requiring different skills and strategies to maximize damage and debris.

BE THE CONTROLLER WITH KINECT™
The game is also Electronic Arts' first Xbox LIVE® Arcade title to feature a game mode designed exclusively for Kinect™ in which two teams can use gestural controls to crash and burn in a party battle! With a variety of player vehicles to unlock, high-value targets to seek and destroy, and crazy special features to discover, players will be hooked on an adrenaline-fuelled road rampage to the top of the heap.

Coming to Xbox LIVE® Arcade and PlayStation® Network, Fall 2011.

I don't want to be the controller.

Those screenshots probably don't do it justice as it looks like it could be a bit of fun from the description and crashing cars is great.

I have just got out of bed from a migraine though so my perception could be distorted a bit.

Also... I don't want to be the controller either.

Burnout revenge is the best game ever made. I fucking hated burnout paradise to put it mildly. I waited and waited for the sequel to revenge, I pre-ordered and everything.

Fuck everything about that game, I have no sense of direction and, no, no I don't want to have to pause and use a cocking map every ten bloody seconds you utter donkey buggering game ruining bastards, one of the joys of revenge was that you could just load up whatever you wanted be it single or multiplayer and just start, I don't want to fuck about trying to find a fucking traffic light and have damage to my car even be a god damn factor and then lose every single race because I get lost all the time. SO. MUCH. RAGE.

edit: also that DJ

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is essentially Burnout Paradise but with set tracks rather having to stare at the map while racing.

Also, it has bullshit cutscenes all over the place. They are unskipable, although for some of them it says "Press A to skip", but then it just says "Skipping" and plays the whole cut scene.

I bought Burnout Paradise a couple of months ago, and still haven't played it. I tried to, but after a solid five minutes of unskippable fucking bullshit with some idiot yammering away about a garage or 'cool cars' or some other shite, I ended up killing it from task manager, because seriously, fuck off. It's a racer, just give me a car and a track and I'll figure the rest out as I go, you oafs. Even the fucking menus had unskippable tutorials.

I went back to playing flatout 2 instead.

Yeah, I quite like it too, but I wish it also had tracks and races like the old ones (even if it was just tracks walled off in the city) and I really liked crash mode.

Paradise is awesome. I agree the unskippable voice over guy is a pain, but it only happens once.

I still play Burnout 3 for the crashes. The xbox1 version works very well and is still a very entertaining game.

No matter if you love or hate it, the fact is that it isn't a burnout game.

Ah the old Burnout Paradise debate again! I maintain that all of the people who don't like Paradise are belms who have no sesne of direction and probably get lost in real life all of the time. You belms. It's fucking awesome.

Burnout Paradise was the heart of Bezzie Gaming.

Bloody brilliant with 8 players.

And many further fun-crippling elements, such as wanky fmv when you want to restart swiftly and best of all randomply placed traffic in point-to-point and time trials, etc, so the playing field is never level.

In fact, fuck both those games. Midnight Club:LA never had these sort of problems for me, somehow.

The big disappointment is that B:P was described as a sandbox when in fact it is just an open world. You can't make your own fun.

On slightly related racing game issues.

Does anyone have a copy of Mashed: Fully Loaded for Xbox I could have for a few quid? Just realised it's backwards compatible on the XBOX 360 and it's the best party game ever.

Also you could sell it on ebay where the cheapest price seems to be an £8 Buy it now. It's £2.50 on CEX but there's none online and only available in Southampton and Sheperds Bush.

I don't understand how Paradise "isn't a racer". Also, just drive around and randomly participate in the MANY MANY races/events/etc at any given intersection on the map, finish them, do more, learn the map, don't get lost any more.

I don't know why you'd ever need to pause to look at the map - unless you're looking for a specific event to compete in - for example the car-specific timed race things. When you're in a race proper, the mini-map is fine and your destination is clearly pinpointed, so just drive in that general direction really quickly until you get there.

If you're doing the races, you're doing it wrong. Burnout Paradise is all about the MP challenges, and bacon on string.

The multiplayer is fantastic, yes, but it's still a brilliant singleplayer game. I put hours and hours, probably days into maxing the singleplayer. Still haven't quite done it - need all of the car-specific thingies.

I never got the Burney Pee love-in. The game was OK, but far from thrilling. I mean, whenever I played it with people, it mostly consisted of driving up and down the same stretch of road trying to do the same tricky jump once every 45 seconds for twenty minutes so Dimmers could tick one step closer to a cheevo.

It was overlaid with eight people talking at once that we could have just as easily had a party chat session for (but which was, admittedly, pretty great -- when I could understand seven other people talking over each other through the Xbox's slightly shitty VOIP).
