So, as Decca mentioned there is a satellite going* to fall on our heads in the next few hours.

Current location.

PaddyPower are offering 8/11 on the Pacific and 2/1 on the Atlantic, somewhat at odds with the quoted 1/3200 chance of it landing upon someone.

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/09/ ... real-time/ (slow to load, if at all, plus it is fox)
And more info here: at info satellites, which ironically keeps crashing.

People with an Android phone can keep up to speed with this handy app, which now has a UARS button, unconfirmed whether this is just a name calling function.

and obviously, there is http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/uars/index.html who are as usual providing up to the minute info about space related incidents.

*NASA claim it isn't known if it will or won't fall out of the sky and hit Earth, quite where else it is going to go, who knows.

BUT, it doesn't stop there, we have an even greater chance of being clobbered by a piece of space metal when the German satellite ROSAT falls from the skies at the end of October; coincidentally the expected time for the end of the world. Could we be seeing a zombie space plague on our doorsteps soon?

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Edit, on a side note, wouldn't it be funny if it landed on dale Farm?

Once the satellite parts land, they should be evicted, unless prior planning permission has been obtained.

Is it true that when skylab or whatever it was came down the Aussie government fined NASA $400 for littering?

if it did land on Dale Farm, there would be no sign of wreckage but every dwelling there would have suddenly acquired a titanium carport.

Well apparently it reentered while passing over Canada/North USA, NASA are unconcerned looking at trying to find out where it went after that. However, if you want a piece, then:

How the fuck did that little comet cause all that, and on the other side of the sun?

That's not a comet hitting the sun. It's Mexican with a firework in his nose.

Damn your eyes! I felt all smug finding this gem and posted it in the Bits & Bobs, only to find that you've beaten me to the punch!

May a satelite fall on YOUR head sir.

The sun's a bit like a jelly with a walnut in the middle, so if you shoot something at it, it'll cause the bits of jelly to ripple around and then pop out the other side, I guess.
