A friend on Twitter suggested that I, and a few others of us, should use Raptr.

I've had a quick look but I'm limited because I'm at work but I thought I'd get the hive minds opinion.

Does anyone else use it? Is it any good? What's it all about?

Looks quite good if you play games on all sorts of platforms, which I don't.

I've figured out what it is.. It's Facebook for gamers.

I've signed up but I can pretty much guarantee that I'll stop using it within a week.

Pah, windows only and doesn't seem to want to install via crossover.

I can see a use for it, if it automatically updates from steam, xbox live and psn(hah! :D). I'd use it as a way to track what I have played and for how long, regardless of checking out other people :)

I remember signing up for it a while ago and finding it wasn't what I thought it was.

I no longer remember either what it is or what I wanted.

I used the iPhone app for a while, so I could see who is online before turning the funsquare on. Better xbox friends list apps are available though.

husband uses it and likes it a lot
he's registered and installed the client and linked it to several other accounts like facebook and steam and some other gaming accounts and told raptr what's interesting and what isn't
now it posts his gaming accomplishments to facebook and it can do some other stuff like when he was playing caommand and conquer (?) and using raptr he was also chatting to a friend who was typing on facebook at the time

sorry for the rambeling, as you can guess Im not using it myself but husband is on a mission. he has completed stage one as I have installed steam and bought my first game this week. but Im putting up a valiant fight as the game was sudoku and I dont think that's what he had in mind :D
but he wants me to install raptr as well so I just repeated his pitch ^^

Ah, signing up gives you the option for a mac client!

That's the spirit. I've received a few friend requests this morning... well, I say requests.. do I have to "befriend" people back? I'll have a look on the proper site later.

I'm on my phone at the minute which is another annoying thing about Raptr. No Android client.

You have to acknowledge the request, unless you already have them on a linked xbox account (and maybe PSN, but I don't have linked at the moment) in which case it accepts automatically.

Yup, purely as one of these 'extended functionality' sites for your XBox account, it's rather decent. Plus the joy of XBL updated one per minute in my IM client :)

Some people have still not registered. I would encourage them to stop being dicks.

Been job apping this afternoon and keep looking at my stats and feeling an urge to get on the 360 and alter them very slightly.

Oh dear. This thing tracks the number of hours you play each game. On every platform. This means including PokerStars and Football Manager.

This is bad - very bad.

Has anyone else had problems with the achievements tracking on Raptr? I know for a fact that I have all but 3 of the achievements on Arkham Asylum but Raptr reckons I have only got 28 out of 47.

How odd? My other games seem OK although, I haven't gone through them all because I can't really be bothered. ?:|

8) that's a scary amount of time...makes Nickachu's COD playing time look kind of feeble.

Actually if I had the stats for all played games then I bet Burnout Paradise would be close to Gears of War... possibly Rock Band as well, because the band career in that was a horrible slog.

Yeah, I was exaggerating for comic effect. That's what I'd imagine Alberto's stats would look like if he were a member of Raptr, not his actual ones.

Bleurgh, they've totally changed the website! I just use it for tracking time spent on games, achievements etc, but now it's turned into some kind of Facebook/Twitter hybrid for games. I've just spent 15 mins 'unfollowing' the games I own(!) so I don't get random crap appear on my page that people have posted about each games. What nonsense.

Less messy but I'll have to see if I've lost functionality.

Thoughts so far - cleaner look, slow as fuck - where's my gamercard?

Aha - these changes are beta, there's already a decent amount of feedback from the community and some planned features are not implemented/ported over yet. Use the feedback tab and let them know what you think, I'm off into the forums now to make sure the metrics are coming back.

Yesterday when I went to my profile, it told me what I'd been playing and for how long. When I logged on this morning, my 'wall' (yuck) had posts about Half-Life 2 from randoms because I was following updates about the game (and every other game I own).

How shit.

If they've got a timeline feature they've got to set it up with something so prune it and then see how it is. Apparently the metrics are all being ported and will be in widget form so you'll have more choice eventually.

I've been poking about in the new timeline and have found a good few things I'm interested in. If this can successfully aggregate gaming news from my normal sources it will be a godsend.

Except I had to manually unfollow all 280-odd games as there is no 'unfollow all' button yet.

Yet. I'll spend a little now shortly doing a comparison with old.raptr.com and give feedback.

The good news is that we're planning to add these things back as soon as we can. For now, you can go to old.raptr.com to use these features. We'll leave old.raptr.com running until the new site has them all.

Please spread the word. =)

Sigh. None of the original functions of the site are gone, just use the old version, which will be around for months, until it gets ported over.
