As many of you know, I'm currently whoring myself around looking for a new job.

For some interviews in the next week or two, they're with important people who cannot meet my regular slots of pre or post-work. So I need to take a few hours off work to interview elsewhere.

Anyone know my rights in this situation?

Ask nicely, or take a half day as holiday?

Not sure you have any rights as such, but if your boss is understanding then ask to take a couple of hours. If not, lie and say you have a dentist appointment.

If you;re being made redundant, I think they have to let you attend interviews in working hours. If not, then I think MaliA is right.

That's annoying. We're very busy at the moment, so a short notice request to take the afternoon off may not be met with a smile.

Would it be possible for you to make the time up in any way?

Ramsea is starting work an hour early so he can leave early as he's arranged any interviews for the end of the day.

If you can't do that kind of thing, it does look like half days off are the only option, unless you could see them outside working hours?

Are they aware that you're jobhunting?

They should be, but not officially.

Anyway, they will be as I'm going to have to clear the time off with the boss.
