Unless anyone can find a better deal on Orange or knows that this sucks, I'll be buying a Nokia E5 at lunch time (I can't cope without my mobile phone - Can't get messaging to work on the one you lent me Mark ).

It's free on a 24 month contract and it's £20 a month (I won't pay any more) for 100 calls (ample for me) Unlimited text and email/web (brilliant)

Gets pretty good reviews too.

There's a few Android handests about now for around £100 on PAYG; e.g. the Orange San Francisco. I'd suggest that's worth a look. I'd daresay there's a contract option.

Not out yet Doc (on Orange) and the HTC that Mark linked to isn't available either.

There's the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini though.

The last couple of Sony Ericsson phones I've had have been shite, so I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole any more. Shame, as they put out some awesome phones years ago.

I'm happy with the Elm (stupid name - they're marketed as 'green' phones) I've had recently. Doesn't do anything out of the ordinary but does what it needs to pretty well and it costs me £15 a month so it fit my budget at least.

Get one of the decent cheaper androids ones I'd say. The San Fransisco looks like an amazing phone for the price.

Seriously though, a friend of mine has that phone.. I think.. and it's great. I'd avoid Nokia personally as I've had bad experiences with them. Since getting my Desire, I haven't looked back!

Zardoz -- get the Orange PAYG Android phone, then get a SIM-only contract with £110 cashback (from these offers). For a total upfront of £110 you could have 300min/unlimited SMS per month for a year.

That only seems to be on the "canary" option which has no data. If you're getting an ismartphone you need data, right?

Ah yes, that is a possible catch. O2's SIMplicity plans have data allocations on some of them, though (there are specific Smartphone ones) and they have a similar cashback deal. It'd be a few more quid per month than Zardoz originally specced, but then again, he didn't originally spec data.

I'm happy to pay the £15 a month for a free phone with 100 mins talk 3000 texts and I'll get the £5 data bolt on.
