What combination of codecs and settings do I need to be running to enable both subtitles and hardware acceleration on MKVs?
It's never really come up before as I tend to go for downloads with hard encoded subs if there's an option (I only speaka the eenglish), but I was watching The Da Vinci Code and realised that I don't speak French. I checked with Avatar and sure enough, I don't speak bluekittenpeople either!
So I'm on Windows 7 64bit and have been using Shark007's codec pack. Is there a simpler solution?

Just use VLC? I'm using XP and have no problems with mkv subtitles.

Ah, sorry. This is in Media Center
Also, it's for 'forced' subtitles, in movies that only have occasional need of them, such as the 2 mentioned above.
