Be Excellent To Each Other

My Father has a new Dell with Windows 7 on it but has discovered that it has no games installed. Anyone know of any freebie Windows games I can install on it?

Card games, mine sweeper, that kind of stuff. I have a load of retro remakes natch, but I also need some more "conventional" stuff.

Simple desktop type stuff?

I like Fracas. It's a simple wargame, a bit like the absolutely ancient World Empire IV.

I used to play this a lot of my boring night shifts.. just an executable and 16k zipped. Just the usual clearing squares of the same colour but addictive enough.

It doesn't even have solitaire? That's a bit mean. I'm sure my work one has that and chess and a few others.

I'm thinking more of stuff like Tetris, Solitaire, Chess, Space Invaders etc.

Windows 7 Professional, as installed by Dell, is devoid of all games. But then again so was my Mac.

Can you put them on by going through Add/Remove Windows Components (if that's even there on Windows 7)?

Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows features on or off -> Games

See if it has that, and you'll have the standard Windows games installed. I don't think it'll need a Windows disc, but I could be wrong.

For Tetris etc. I can't help.

Just tried that on the Revo and it seemed to work. Will try the Dell tomorrow. Cheers.

It's in there.

Go to 'search programs and files' and type solitaire into the search. It will come up "install additional features" simply select games and it will activate them and put them into the programs list.

Or you can completely ignore that as some one else posted it
