Well, sort of.

Anyhoo, if I write an Android app that, shall we say, could be seen as encouraging people to drive recklessly, am I liable?
It's intended for track day use, obv.

Can't you fill it with disclaimers? Like Burnout does?

Yeah, most of the stuff sold in Halfords gets away with a 'for race use only' sticker, so I doubt you'd have any problems with a simple disclaimer. Is there nothing comparable on the app store that you could copy off?

I think it's probably the worldwide market, or more pertinently, the 'merkin market you have to be aware of. In particular their opportunistic lawyers.

I've got an app on my iPhone called Dynolicious, which is meant to use the phone's accelerometer to make various power and performance measurements on your car. I've never properly been able to use it as I've never found anywhere suitable for doing the initial 0-60mph measurement. Except for that time that I was driving home on the M3 at 3am on Boxing Day, but I didn't have the bloody thing installed on my phone then, did I? (FYI: I made it from Portswood, Southampton to Apsley, Hemel Hempstead in 1h 13m police types!)

The makers of Dynolicious on the iPhone state "Dynolicious is intended for experienced drivers in a suitable location. Always obey traffic laws" in their App Store description.

When you load it for the first time, a popup is displayed that says:
Dynolicious wrote:
This software is intended for experienced drivers in suitable locations. The developers and distributors of Dynolicious are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or property damage that may occur during it's use. Always drive safely and obey traffic laws.

I'm assuming your app would be something similar, Grim...?

I've got that app. It does seem to work but I've not actually timed a run to see if it's anywhere near accurate.

What Grim... was proposing over IM goes more than a few stages further than Dynolicious.

Does it say "Serious shit" when you hit 88mph?

Could also throw in a couple of Chase HQ samples. When starting the app, you have 'Let's go Mr Driver' and if the phone detects some sudden movement, 'Hold on man!'

I had a friend that lived in Harefield Road come round to visit on Boxing Day last year, so I took her home afterwards. I could've stayed the night, but the opportunity to hoon down a deserted M3 proved impossible to resist!

Thought St Mary's was the worst area? Was in my time at university at least. According to legend.

How was the birth? By my reckoning it should be about a month old by now?

Millbrook is pretty bad. Not sure about St Mary's. I think it has changed alot. Used to park my car around there if going into town.

Racist.

Chinny: I think I have become desensitised to bad areas of Southampton after living in Nottingham for so long. Even Shirley seems like some kind of utopia compared to the Meadows or St Annes.
