In an effort to reduce my unsightly man-boobs I am embarking on the... *clears throat*

ONE HUNDRED PUSH UPS CHALLENGE!

On the initial test, I scored a frankly pathetic 4, leaving me on rank 1 with the old ladies and accident victims so it looks like I need the work.

Wish me luck

Dear god man, I thought you meant a rank 4 - 30 to 49 pushups

Sit ups, no problem. My lower body strength is immense having been a sprinter in my youth. Upper body strength is bobbins though.

Damn computers, ruined my guns.

I haven't tried pushups properly since knackering my arm. I had to do girly pushups as part of my physio, but the real, manly ones still screw with the joint too much. I'm sure it'd get better with continual practice, possibly, or it might just royally break it.

I have joined ye on the challenge. Needed something to kick start me back on some kind of fitness kick and this seems to fit the bill. I even sprung for the app.

Slightly hampered by the dog festering round me I managed 21 for the initial test which is is actually 1254 in normal sit ups because my arms are so fucking long. Honest guv.

Been trying to be more active myself, doing more than 4 push ups/sit ups/pull ups a day and been out with the family on our bikes the last couple of weekends.

I did the hundred pushup challenge thing last year... for 3 days, before thinking, fuck this.

Use the time you save by not doing pushups all evening, to earn some extra money. Then you can employ someone to follow you around and pick you up from the floor should you ever fall over and land on your front with no other way of getting up other than pushing your arms straight ahead in front of you.

100 push ups in 6 weeks? Easy! That's only about 3 a day.

We could time this so we're all doing 100 push ups at the Tinkers meet!

I can probably do about 30 in a single go at the moment, so I might try this. I think we should get Mr Dave in on this, as he should be able to do it no probs, what with him actually weighing a negative amount.

In all seriousness, I did this for about 2 weeks when I tried it, it really is massively more difficult than it seems!

Anybody want to predict how long they think they will last, and how many they will get to in one go? We can then all point and laughcongratulate you when you manage it... :D

I too have always had crap upper body strength (unable to do pull ups, climb ropes, do monkey bars etc) I used to have very good lower body strength (was also a sprinter, plus a bit of cycling) and regularly used to podium in swimming events.

Probably no good at any of them know, coincidently I started doing push ups as part of an exercise routine recently, (10 push up, 10 sit ups, 20 touch the toes, 20 star jumps, 20 goes on my bull worker 20 goes on my A shapped things you squeeze to work your fingers) which will get tougher (ie more repetitions for each activity) when I get more proficient at each task.

I hoep that still makes sense, got about 6 phone calls during typing this up.

So, step one:
Quote:
Before you dive in and start the Hundred Push Ups Program, you should:

obtain medical advice and clearance from your doctor

OK then, that should put things off for a week or two!
