So I may have pulled a Coffey.

Saw a 2nd hand 120gb xbox hard drive for sale (£30) in game and bought it on a whim, 20gb has been driving me nutty for a while now.

Pop the transfer cable on and swap everything over.

But only now realise I should have probably formatted it first. still deleted the other persons accounts and everything seems fine. Downloaded 1gb+ trials, browsed the online store etc. But then I tried to play L4d2 which needs a title update. Which fails before downloading anything.

same for split second etc. Bugger bugger bugger.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks.

Get an Xbox?

Edit: I'm sorry, I don't have a clue what is wrong with it.

As I understood it, I thought the hard drive automatically got formatted during the swap over process.

Maybe the new drive is faulty? I hope not...

Cheers, already tried cache to no avail.

Don't think drive broken. it runs xbla games fine.

Think going to try. Copying everything back onto the old drive and see what happens then.

I also seem to remember that you can only go one way with copying data to and from the Xbox hard drives... worth a try though!

I must not be the only one who assumed you were talking about the Xbox 1 at first, surely.

Hmm, I think transfering everything back to the 20gb then formatting the 120gb then copying everything back again has got it working.

But I may have to do the license transfer thing.... I'll keep you posted as this does t seem to be on the web much,
