Because last season has gone and surely the first sign of a new season is that Chelsea have appointed their new manager.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011 ... illas-boas

He's younger than half the team. He's younger than me, too. That doesn't feel good.

Annoyingly, I told my Chelsea friend that he'd be appointed ages ago, but didn't back it with money.

Or even if he wins something but it isn't the Champions League.

So.. new Premier League season has started and I watched a couple of games -

Liverpool/Sunderland. Liverpool promise a lot and still end up with just a point.

Newcastle/Arsenal. Dull game and Joey Barton seems even more odious than last season.

Man Utd have made a few decent signings this season, though amusingly, that dodgy goalie does not appear to be one of them. :p

...and they've lost one half of their central defensive pairing for 6 weeks (not sure how long Vidic is out for though).

Oh and Rafael is also out for 10 weeks.

Buggers still won though :(

I miss Ashley Young.

Also, from what I saw of Smalling and Jones together at the U21 tournament, they are definitely one of the clubs more able to cope with losing both first choice centre backs.

I wish we could lose one of ours. James Collins is the worst defender I think I've ever seen at Villa.

Agreed, though I must say their supporters doing that backward-jumping-celebration thing, is becoming massively tedious and irritating.

But can he do it on a wet school night in the north- oh.

Yeah, I love Aguero. I mainly love the fact that a touted striker that I want in Prem has come over and hasn't instantly sucked (Alves, Balotelli, Dzeko...).

Leeds have scored 4!

And hopefully won't concede 6.

[edit] It's finished. 4-1!

Summary from the weekend Man City off to a blinder but then it was Swansea. Man Utd lucky to get the result & Liverpool off to a poor draw when we should have won the game & Sunderland should have been down to 10 men.

Apparently Tottenham are in for Adebayor. Should be interesting. Also, Boro are second in the Championship. Albeit temporarily - everyone else plays tonight!

Arsenal looked lost & Chelsea were far from impressive.
Bolton played very well

I'll leave the rest for now

Oh well. Sunderland should have won that fixture last season. Swings and roundabouts, eh?

Also: Ken Bates is the biggest bastard ever. Tempted to actually kill him.

I thought it was implied that you'd be travelling back in time to a point where Ridsdale still had relevance to Leeds to kill him, otherwise it wouldn't be much of a choice

Not just Hearts. Rangers and Celtic both in danger of going out in the Europa qualifiers to teams that aren't really going to set the world alight.

With comments like these from Neil Warnock and more teams fielding weaker sides in some cups, I can't help thinking it would be better to scrap the Carling Cup and just have one cup competition. Mind you, I'd scrap the Europa League too.

I disagree, just because some teams don't want to win it, doesn't mean they all don't, and frankly I would take a win versus Scunthorpe in the final as much as a win versus Man Utd.

Remember that the League Cup is run by the Football League and the FA Cup is run by the FA. I can't see the FL wanting to scrap their premier cup competition. Plus it's a way into Europe for crap Prem teams and gives lower league teams another crack at a cup run.

Overall I like it, but it needs an overhaul.

If anything, I'd rather scrap the Premier League and Champions League. ;) At least lower division football and lesser cup competitions are a bit more unpredictable.
