morning,
MrsRomanista's Samsugn jety screen was knackered, which made that she couldn't use the phone,
my iphone fell yuesterday , and has a big scratch surface know (luckily my phone insurance will replace it for free),

but we wondered, does such a plastic type screen protector help at all, we also heard it had more negative side effects.

what's the forum's opinion?

I've had the InvisibleShield ones before, but have mixed opinions. They certainly protect the screens from scratches, but there's a fairly significant amount of finger drag on touchscreen devices with them fitted. I won't install them on an iPhone, but will happily do it on a non-touch device again.

I get no latency at all on my iPhone or iPad. Putting them on bubble-free is a stone-cold bitch though.

What Craster said... the air bubbles are unavoidable but definitely get one! It'll help if you want to sell your phone in the future too.

I had a protector for a few months. Prefer it without, though.

Yes, it always feels nicer without a protector.

I have one on my iPhone and will be putting one on my next. My screen is still in great condition and I change the protector when it begins to get marked. The rest of my phone is covered in scratches and marks because it gets kept in a pocket with screwdrivers and stuff but the screen has stayed ok so I think they work and I really don't notice a problem with responsiveness of the screen.

I don't really have any problems with them being on screens, latency-wise. It's just a slightly greater friction and I don't like it.

You're right about the bubbles, though.

Also: don't do what I did and scrape a key across the screen to test it. They can and will scratch if you try hard enough.
