Sorry Lace, that drive is now obsolete. Those drives are the same price and a lot faster again, it looks like.

Edit -- comments on that article have also lead me to this, £120 for 64Gb (the 40Gb drive is a little bit tight for a boot volume for me, whereas 64Gb would host both Windows and OS X).

Okay, I understand* the fact that having multiple fast HDDs makes accessing things faster, but I don't get how a defrag is faster, when a defrag would surely deferag all of the drives, and 24 drives would^ take a while to defrag? Also, I don't get it.

The more I think about it, the more I think that's really quite rude.

Defrags are just lots of sequential reads and writes. SSDs are fast. So defragging an SSD is fast.

Defragging 24 takes about the same length of time as defragging one, as the 24x bigger space to defrag is offset by having 24x more speed talking to drives.

obsolete is a strong word
its still a fantastic drive

think what you want. ive said offers or swap for windows 7 (currently £70 i think for home)

That's kind of my point, why show a defrag as wow, of 24, when it is no different to 1? At least I would understand 1 being quick.

In fairness to Mr Nigel Jenga he's often asked "How much?" or told that what ever he's selling seems a bit expensive & he still usually shrugs his shoulders & says "That's what I'd get for it [here or there or wherever else he checks his prices against]" which seems a far more sensible reaction than "ZOMFG! I was trying to sell that!"

By the end of the year all SSDs as we know them will be obsolete per se. But that's because Intel have seriously managed to crush down the NM of their NAND. So that means better performance and double the capacity per chip.

So now isn't the best of times to buy any SSD. But having said that, 'now' (IE in the moment) would never be the best of time to buy anything computer or silicon related because within an hour something else has come along.

Nirejhenge has the added bonus of owning a stall that seems to do alright with selling game related stuff.
