While you're waiting for it to download... You might want to check out this fantastic song that Frank recorded entitled "Free Download"

It's smashing!

He wasn't funny while he was alive, he's not funny now he's dead.

Sorry, chap.

Why didn't they choose Anarchy In Timperley?

[edit] Or Panic. Which has an excellent video.

Mark Radcliffe's biggest failing was his softspot for that tit.

That and John Shuttleworth.

I did a gig with Mark Radcliffe once and I'd say his biggest failing was something else that I probably shouldn't write here. 8)

He was a nice guy though!

/Predicts the hell Mr. Chris will inevitably end up in:

Frank Sidebottom's papier-mache head leering at him accompanied by the music of John Shuttleworth whilst Satan shoves red-hot pokers up his jacksie and Mark Radcliffe looks on approvingly.

I imagine this campaign will be as successful as the one to get Pantera's 'Cowboys from Hell' to Number 1 for their 20th anniversary later this month

Heh.

I thought Sidebottom's weapon of choice was the big C, though.

I agree with Krissypants and Marlon.

Sidebottom was a one-joke non-joke that went on far too long due to the 'madchester' 90s and The Word.

And I'm not sorry. There's a reason he died penniless.

Going to add my voice to the pro-Frank side of things. I first became aware of him when he turned up on Number 73, if anyone remembers that. I never sought him out, but was happy when he turned up on my TV.

Frank Sidebottom > Sandi Toksvig > Neil Buchanan

I have nothing against the man, I don't really recall him or his jokes.

I do find it sad that he could die penniless and only now his fans go out of their way to do something - but you can't help him now (only God can do that). I understand why this is, but it's still sad.

Pretty much all of :this:

Although, since No. 73 I don't remember anything he's done.

From what I understand, he wasn't living in poverty but was someone who just lived for the moment. So he spent whatever he had coming in straight away. He was more concerned with what he was creating than worrying about anything else. As one person said, the thing was if you met him in a bar he'd then be buying drinks for everyone all night.

It's a shame he didn't live longer as next year Chris Sievey was planning to finally remove Franks head and actually talk about himself and what Frank was really about.

I don't think even he knew what Frank was "really all about".

I'm on the 'unfunny' side of things. I don't get how Radcliffe and co like him. (yes, I know that Mark played in his band)

I'm not a fan of Frank Sidebottom either. But I'm sure he was a lovely chap. Not Chris Sievey though. I'm sure he was horrid. :D
