Dear god I I have far far too many wires.

USB, audio, video, console stuff, chargers and all sorts.

How do you lot store your wires, any suggestions for clever ways to keep them organised in a small space?

Well I keep all my wires in a paper file thingy. And they all get tangled and it's not very good. But prepare to have your mind blown:

To store them I wrap them neatly, secure them with velcro and stick them in big box. I've tried a number of different approaches to manage cables in use - and none of them have been able to resist the tangle fairy. About the best was a proper cable tidy thing I bought in a pound shop, but that became a nuisance when you wanted to move something (I was also slightly concerned about having power and data cables being wrapped in close proximity to one another).

You need cable ties that can be released and re-used. I used to use them on installs in our racks at (the Belgium Broadbean Collective - Ed). They had winged releases and you can press them in and they release. I got the same ones for my Retro Corner so all the cables are tidy within reason.

I have a 3L one of these for each cable type, or at least am working towards it. Currently I've got one for all my tomtom stuff, one for all my audio leads, one for anything USB including leads and dongles, one for frequently used chargers, one for video leads and one for camcorder accessories. I need a load more though, I've also got a suitcase of other cables and leads in a plastic bag. I want a box for the gubbins for each console I own, controllers etc.

I blame Nintendo personally, I've a DS, Lite, GBASP and a Micro, and that's three different chargers for four essentially very similar devices, which can't be used on anything else whereas my PSP charger works on my old ipaq. I like having my HTC Desire now though as it replaces just about every portable device I own for occasional use.
