Right, we play quite a lot of games together, but usually it is a very zeitgeisty thing. Every now and again one of us reminisces about a game that we used to play that we have abandoned for the latest shiny new game. I'm suggesting that once a week we choose (probably through a poll) for a game we used to play and would like to go back to. I suppose it would be like the old Obscure nights, but games that we used to play, rather than ones we never did.

Does this sound like a goer - possibly for a Monday night - or does the phrase 'never go back' spring to mind? I've come up with a rough draft of a list of games we could put to the vote:

Halo 3
GTA IV
Battlefield 1943
Rock Band 2
Team Fortress 2
Burnout Paradise
Gears of War 2
Midnight Club LA
Unreal Tournament 3
Bomberman Live
DOOM
Duke Nukem 3D
Carcassonne
UNO
Worms
FIFA 10

Have I missed any out? I haven't bothered putting Forza 2, Left 4 Dead, Fifa 09 and CoD4 on there, as they have had similar sequels out recently, but if anyone thinks there is merit in any of them being added, then let me know.

PS - has the Forza 3 Wednesday night thing died? If so, I can add it to this list.

Didn't we used to do this every week? I once rigged the vote for Perfect Dark Zero.

Ah, that's right. It was called Obscure Night, and Sheepeh ran it, until he hated us.

Halo 3 with Rocket Race! We tried a while back to get this up and running again but only a few of us turned up. Within a week of me getting my 360, shortly after Halo 3 came out, we all played Rocket Race together and it remains one of the best sessions of online gaming I've ever had for pure unadulterated shits and giggles. We were all absolutely pissing ourselves for the most of it, especially with the proximity voice chat, listening to people shouting at you as they ride past on a Mongoose. :D

I agree, it will only end in tears.

FIFA 10 is now an "old game we reminisce about"? ?:|

Its multiplayer is superb, in a Q3 'just kill every motherfucker' stylee.

Halo 3 enjoyed large scale play until modern shitefare came out.

What an utterly crap switch that was.

Amen brother! Although I do like the CoD multiplayer, there's something about Halo and its many many game modes and game modifiers that make it a lot less, er, fucking boring after a few hours of play. I think I've given MW2 around 20 hours now and I fired it up for a game the other day only to quit after one game because it's just the same every time. I might have to mix the game modes up a bit admittedly, but gah!

Tuesday is by far the best day if you want to maximise the odds of a Dave arriving before the late shift.

It's almost like I mentioned it in the OP.

Albin0, re: Fifa 10 - probably not. Not sure why I put that in there really. I omitted SWOS as we currently have a tournament going on.

Monday is not set in stone: I just wanted to avoid Wednesday as that seems to be our zeitgeist games night. In fact, Monday wouldn't be all that great for me.

Also add Test Drive Unlimited for cruising for men.

Good idea. although I'm not regularly online much right now, I'd like to see this happen, i have missed out on all but one evening of TF2, Gears2. Bought Forza 2 before Christmas but got so sucked in by Ass Crud 2 and MW2.

Also, Sheepeh hates BETEO? What happened there?

Yes!

I has:

Halo 3
Battlefield 1943
Burnout Paradise
Gears of War 2

Although I'd hardly say they're "from the past", since they are the main games I play :D

And I'd like to try:
Bomberman Live
Carcassone

I don't think wednesday night forza has died, I assume it's just on hold for a while as everyone's usual routine is disturbed by xmas / new years / snows.
I'll be looking to play it next week certainly.

Maybe off topic but you were all frustrating/shite/frustratingly shite at Burnout Paradiso last night.

There are now 27 votes in that poll. I refuse to believe that 27 people are going to turn up. I think the most friends I've ever seen online at once is about 24.
