heh mines been resurrected for a week or so now.
although I do believe i may attract the ones who have had the sadness rather than a successful majority of the forum who are still happily playing along.
although at first i had no revoting on the poll then I thought that would be unwise because Im sure the next one will be round the corner.

A mate of mine has had his 360 rrod at least half a dozen times in the last couple of months, but he keeps resurrecting it with the towel trick and getting another week or so of life out of it.

Mine has been perfectly fine, but I only got it for Christmas so hopefully it's considerably more, erm, stable than older machines.

My launch machine is just fine.

Perhaps I should put it in some sort of museum.

Yeah, my Elite was my January present for this year, so I'm hoping the same!

I have no 360, no PS3 and no Wii.

And if VW have their way, I'll shortly have no money at all.

I am now on my 4th 360.

Number three being the current high score. That one, from new, lasted 6 days.

Mine is fine at the moment, however I fully expect it to keel over as soon as the extended warranty is up.

Mine died without a RRoD. And then after about 10 attempts to get it working again came up with an RRoD. Which I was relieved about, due to it only being in warranty with that fault.

I was just wanting to see the reliability of the console on this forum so still vote if you had a not as good sounding malfunction.

anyway im hoping this thread could last a few years until everybody who has a xbox 360 has finally pressed 'yes'.

Microsoft released a figure saying it was about 20% of the consoles out there that was infected or something like that so its generally against them at the moment.

I can only assume I've been unlucky.

Certainly my launch day PS2 ticks away without a blip - indeed - my Spectrum +2 had a run out the other day and didn't even need its heads realigning.

The 6-Day wonder machine featured a fault in which the drive made the most apalling sounds, not as though the disc was being scratched, but as though some sort of mysterious and terrible portal might be opening nearby. One day later it Red-Ringed.

Still, it's not all bad, I call this 4th one "Tom Baker".

How can it when they gave a 3 year warranty for RRoDs, and the console came out December 2005? He wants to send it back, sharpish.

The most 'advanced' console I have is my trusty Gamecube. Most recently-released is my PSP. Housemate just got his third 360 though.

I've had my 360 about 2 months now and it was secondhand when I got it. So far so good..

It does have problems with its disc tray though. It frequently won't eject so I have to hit it. Also it won't come out all the way either, without it being pulled a little.

My 360 has had lots of problems with it's disc tray now that I think about it. For example, if I have a game in and a DVD in the HD-DVD drive, if I watch the DVD and then go back to the dashboard I can't start the game up without cycling the disc tray. It makes a clunking noise when it tries to read it.

I doubt Microsoft will fix this when they sort out my RRoD, but it'd be nice.

Hmmm, whilst statistically insignificant and incredibly unscientific (the plural of anecdote isn't data), that does come out to be scarily close to, if not above the 33% failure rate that gets banded around.

Eeek.

My 360 is new enough to have an* (unused) HDMI port. So hopefully that means it will LIVE FOREVER.

* Erm, Ignoring the H is a Vowel shennagings, if you put in some text in brackets should that 'an-ify' an 'a'?

In that case, it would be 'an' regardless of the bracketted text, unless you read HDMI as "High Def... whatsit" instead of an initialism*.

I don't think you should an-ify it if the next word begins with a consonant though. As such: "a (unused) bracket"; though if you read it as a whole with the bracketed text it does sound wrong. I don't know.

*ha.

No RRoD but my first one had to be replaced due to a faulty optical drive.

Current 360 is fine. I overlook how flakey 360s are due to them have such a fucking brilliant live service and acebest games.

My Eggbox had a problem with it, in that the cable attaching the box to the TV needed to be pressed in a certain direction or the screen went dark or just turned itself off. This was annoying, but not annoying enough for me to return it, as I am a lazy tosser. So, I soldiered on with the cable twisted in weird and fantastical ways.

Once I bought an HDTV and set the cable to HDTV... problem solved.

How odd.

My HD-DVD drive seems a bit sad, sometimes being detected and sometimes not, but with them costing about £15 at the moment, I think I'll just grab another.

I don't believe you get back your own console, so they probably will.

This was the cause of my first returned Xbox. It got progressively worse. I think the drive belt that engages the drawer eject mechanism either jams or slips.

This is only warrantied for one year, so check the manufacture date on the back of your console and considered returning it for repair before it fails.

I had to send mine back due to DVD drive being sh*t. But no RROD. Although it's one of the first released models.

Intrestingly though a lot of people have sent their machines off due to other faults...

Perhaps another pole, on who's had to get their eggbox fixed, for any reason is in order to seek out the shoddyness.

I mean, most people looks like they've had some sort of problem.

I decided in the middle of the thread that any reason to send it back was viable as a 'yes'. I'll put it in the first post, does anyone think I should duplicate the yes and no with an option for new or old console?
To see if the problems still exist?

Apparently the problems do still exist although a british newspaper isnt exactly the place for accurate gaming news ever.
