Fuck off giving me king size silver papers when I ask for Silver Rizla. You wouldn't give me king size blue, red or green if I asked the same way so why do it with silver?

Dicks. Is this the same elsewhere or just Torfaen?

Even MCDonlad's will give you the default size and ask you if you want to 'go' 'large' (To which one should always respond "well, I'm eating your shitty food, arent I? I'm harldy going to go smaller from doing so!" and wander off laughing to yourself).

It's really annoying with the rizla though, as rizla are important. Without them how am I supposed to smoke?

Could you not say "actually, I'd prefer the other one?" and be done with it?

I see your point Dom but king size skins are for chav spliffs, as any fule kno.

On consulting the Rizla website, they are now calling Rizla 'regular' Rizla in places, a sickening trend. I may have to quit smoking.

It's a lie. Since giving up smoking I have don't noticeably have any more money than I did when I smoked. See also: drinking.

One of the odd time-wasting things I did at university was to pick up dropped/lost Rizla packets. At least once a fortnight a small packet with papers still inside. Used to keep them all in a jar somewhere at home, as a life-long non-smoker. Yeah, I know, weird. But more socially acceptable than picking up dropped 1p and 2p coins. ;)

Could never get over the fact that I discovered Rizla came in liquorice flavour. Quite why people would want their gaseous carcinogens served in paper flavoured like a root-based confectionary, I'll never understand.

When your mum finds your skins you can convince her it's for the novelty of liquorice fags and not because you are building massive spliffs down the rec.

If you've got a gullible Mum.

Huh.

I was searching online for people talking about thebackyshop.co.uk before giving them my credit card details and this was one of the top matches.

Double take.

Anyway, I'm about to give them my debit card details, so fingers crossed.

Pack the filthy shit in man. The reason she gave you king size is because yes, 90% of papers sales is to chav who want ten benson with it so they can go get high.

The other 10% are for old men with smelly nicotine stained teeth who smoke roll ups.

Says me, the worst ex smoker ever to have lived. Seriously man, I gave up last December and I have never felt so fucking good in all my life. I have taken my BMX out five out of the last seven days (because Sat and Sun I had a few beers to watch the glorious football and didn't want to ride pissed) and cannot believe how quickly I am getting into condition. I don't ache the next morning and I feel strong and it's only been a week FFS. I can't believe the stamina I have either. Go back two years and I would have been fucked in about five minutes, but I'm riding hard for a good 45 mins and that takes a lot of energy on a BMX when you weigh 14 stone but I'm feeling fucking great.

Two years I had been without any excercise at all. Now I'm out riding every night for an hour or so and I feel fucking great. I remember when I started riding again when I was 24 it took months to have any stamina at all. Fuck smoking.

A Pakistani man down the road from me used to smoke a pipe. When I was a kid I didn't get on with him at all because I found an old bike over the park and rode it til it broke. He then went to my house whilst I was out and asked my mother for £30 to replace it. I wasn't best pleased given that it was an utter piece of shit and shouldn't have been left in the park over night.

Any way, we resolved our differences over the years and became friends. I would stop and speak to him for ages each time we saw one another. He smoked a pipe.

Last time I saw him he had shaved his head so I said "wahey, BALDY !". He said "I have cancer" and proceeded to cough blood into his hand. I didn't know what to say. I wanted the world to swallow me up and I just managed to mutter something without bursting into tears and walked away. He died three weeks later aged 42 from lung cancer.

"Best" to keep the pipe smoking for special occasions, I think, rather than daily routine.

Well, you know what I mean.

(Best is to not smoke, exercise, keep up with current evidence of health risks of different foods, look both ways before crossing the road, etc. Obviously.)

An elderly neighbour used to smoke a pipe in his immaculately-kept garden. Sometimes the smell of the tobacco smoke wafting over the fence was lovely.

I will confess that today I almost cracked. I had to walk into the village and I had some old git in front of me smoking a cig. And the path is very narrow under the bridge so I decided to take my time and not try getting past him. It was torture.

Some days I can't stand the smell and it makes me feel ill yet on others it's like the Bisto ad.

Yeah. When I was single I used to think that meant just indulging myself as much as possible because - hey! - I might get blown up by a gas leak tomorrow, but now I just want to spend as long possible with my wife, even if it means denying myself pleasures here and now. Play the odds.

Hard, though. I fit it very difficult to resist temptation. It's so easy to deny myself stuff later this afternoon or tomorrow, less easy to do it now.

I'm a firm believer of everything in moderation. I read a book once written by Native American tribe elders and even they spoke of how too much pipe would lead to your throat collapsing.

If I could smoke once a week I would. Sadly I can't :(

Much rather have the money in my pocket and feel healthier, now more than ever since becoming a parent.

The first time I smoked a pipe was during a a Native American blessing during my wedding ceremony.

Yeah I have to admit I feel fucking great .

Especially lately when I thought getting fit was going to be torture (due to smoking in the past and getting into a fitness routine) but it's actually pretty easy and I feel great.
