The Core!

Celebrate the Core. It postulates what happens when a planet's core stops turning. Imaging the worlds out there, bereft of magnetic fields due to the failure of the rotational aspect of their planetary cores. Who knows what the cores is? The effect is all to obvious! Complete life-be-fucked! Problems!

cores

Only a few men and one woman and a token black can save us from the failure that can strike the tasty iron cores of habitable planets. Step in Aaron 'Actually the best thing about Batman: The Dark Knight' Eckhart, and Hilary 'WTF I won an Oscar!?' Swank and Stanley 'Flippily Hair' Tucci. They build a ship out of unobtanium and drill into the innards of the earth to crank up the core with atom bombs.

cores

What it does not have:

Corey Feldman
A soundtrack by The Corrs
Anyone driving a Chevy Core-vette

What it does have:

Computer generated imagery run on Personal Computers utilising the processing power of multiple computer processing cores. But that doesn't matter. It could use volcano stock footage, oatmeal dyed red and a plastic toy thrust into a roaring coal fire Irwin Allen style, it's still a good film because the dialogue is droll, the characters are likeable and I kind of care what happens. There's a French man on board ship whom I can relate to and who is a nice guy with semi-amusing lines! TAKE THAT MICHAEL BAY!

And if the science is crap, who cares? This film gets to the cores of the matter, which is humour and humanity in the midst of a shitty situation.

"... but is this the descent into myth... or MADNESS?"

The Core, a good film.

CORES.

(There, that's sorted it.)

Did the quality of the film elicit hushed "cores!" from both you and your friend's mouth?

They had to have known it was looking bad, and deliberately made it worse for lols surely?

The first time I watched this, it was with my flatmate and we had a lot of wine and laughing gas in the room and were looking for something on TV. Great fun ensued.

Aaron Eckhart was just as shit as the rest of The Dark Knight. Him and his putty like face.
