Be Excellent To Each Other

Most of you probably know this already, but for those who don't: I'm going on holiday tomorrow (well, coming down to That London tomorrow; I fly on Thursday morning) to the USA for two weeks. With sistaflapjack, I'll be touring around Indianapolis, Chicago and San Francisco; eating at Alinea and The French Laundry and In-n-out; attending Twitter meets (not just one but two); driving south along the coast from San Francisco to Carmel and driving north into the Napa Valley; and generally having a fucking good time.

I'll check in from time to time. And I'll miss you all miss some of you, just a little bit.

I doubt it'll be the "best", it might be the most American though. Although I am definitely going to be eating some deep dish ultra greasy pizza in Chicago too, so we'll see how that works out.

Carmel is lovely, by the way. I've been there a couple of times. We ate somewhere really nice last time I was there, but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. We originally went to a place recommended by a friend, but we got there really late and they were closing, but they gave us a voucher for their sister restaurant so we got to eat somewhere nice (not The French Laundry nice, but nice) and had 10% off.

Nice beach too.

Heh. I was going to put a comment in here last night saying "Don't worry, London's pretty much snow-free now" but I thought that would be tempting fate. Turns out fate pre-empted me.

Gaywoods Satnav this lunchtime

South Wales has had about four inches of snow overnight!

I am driving to DBSnappa's place this afternoon. I took the precaution of parking the car on the main road, so getting it out and onto the dual carriageway should be OK. Then I just have to take it really easy. Seems like the snow is a lot lighter once I get east of Bristol.

Nightmare scenario now is that they shut the main Severn Bridge (the old bridge has been shut all day). Best scenario is that we have the drizzle the Met Office claim will be showing up this afternoon and that clears some of the roads; looking at the sky right now I don't think that's likely.

I have until 10am tomorrow to get to London, so at least I'm not pushed for time.

I'd have thought the nightmare scenario would be the airports closing.
