This thread is all about frogs, and nothing to do with the fact that I managed to get rid of the address bar on my browser, panic as I couldn't look it up on google (as I couldn't access Google), post, and then instantly do something that bought it back. Oh no.

I hope I didn't wake anyone up.

A chicken walks into the library. It goes up to the circulation desk and says: "book, bok, bok, boook".
The librarian hands the chicken a book. It tucks it under his wing and runs out. A while later, the chicken runs back in, throws the first book into the return bin and goes back to the librarian saying: "book, bok, bok, bok, boook". Again the librarian gives it a book, and the chicken runs out. The librarian shakes her head.
Within a few minutes, the chicken is back, returns the book and starts all over again: "boook, book, bok bok boook". The librarian gives him yet a third book, but this time as the chicken is running out the door, she follows it.
The chicken runs down the street, through the park and down to the riverbank. There, sitting on a lily pad is a big, green frog. The chicken holds up the book and shows it to the frog, saying: "Book, bok, bok, boook". The frog blinks, and croaks: "read-it, read-it, read-it".

Do you mean a frog that doesn't require any dry land in its environment? I didn't know such frogs existed.

When I was young, a friend of mine used to collect frogs (not real ones), she had about 100 of them in her room, cuddly ones, magnetic ones, loads on her window ledge, a whole book shelf devoted to them.

She was obsessed.

Yep. Could be a toad, actually. They were cute, though, and would apparently not get picked on by the fish.

Also: my mum has just gone to Turkey. She's bringing back some banana tea for you, and possibly banana Turkish delight.

Oh, here is pokey-tongue frog snail for your enjoyment:

Image

If you squeeze him he pokes his tongue out, but I can't squeeze him and take the picture because the camera is too heavy to hold with one hand at the moment :( I will see if I can get an able assistant to help a bit later.

PS: he's cute, isn't he?

When I first started university I bought a poster at the 'Poster Sale!!!' they have every year. I bought the brightest poster I saw as the rooms were painted 'institution magnolia', and that poster happened to be of a bright green tree frog. A few days later someone said that they never had room for one of the posters they had bought and would I like it. Sure, because I had travelled only with what I could fit into one suitcase my room was still rather bare, that would be great. It was of Kermit the frog.

So, perhaps because I didn't actually have any other stuff, the only two 'things' in my room now happened to be of frogs. A couple of people mentioned that I must love frogs, and that all of my stuff had frogs on or was frog themed.

So, come Christmas, I received a frog blanket, a torch which not only had a frog-shaped gobo on it but also a plastic frog which stuck on top for when you wanted to turn it from a torch into a night-light (it also made ribbiting noises if you pressed one of the buttons) a frog-themed mobil, from mug, etc etc etc... So now I truly did have a room full of nothing but frog stuff. I became the girl who was obsessed with frogs, but now that everyone had bought me frogs stuff I didn't want to say that I didn't actually have a particular fondness for frogs, but this imaginary obsession meant that they kept multiplying and the frogs bred like rabbits...

That snail reminds me of a skull I have - you squeeze it and the jellylike substance inside bulges out of the eye sockets. It's bugging me now though as I can't find it - it's not with my other skulls. :(

It's funny what first impressions can do. I was out for someone's birthday, last year, and I'd just watched Australian rugby league for the first time. I enthused about it a bit, and this girl who I had met on that night was apparently left thinking i was an RL obsessive. She didn't buy me any stuffed rhinos or owt, but yeah. She thought I was all about it.

Also, a fanged frog:

Excellent :D

It's true though, you have to have a "thing" at university. If you don't have a "thing", one will be allocated to you. In this case, your destined thing was liking frogs. Just be glad it wasn't, you know, ironically liking Hello Kitty or something.

INTERESTING FORG FACT:
There is only one species of forg that goes "ribbit" and it inhabits California. When Hollywood types required a forg sound for their flims, they went and recorded said forg. And now everyone thinks all forgs go "ribbit".

This is the best frog picture, ever. Because it has David Attenborough in it :luv:

I approve this thread.

My imaginary future aquarium now has frogs for a start.

Also Mimi's hat rocks.

Also the ribbit frog is AMAZING. It looks like an old man.

I'd like to think so. But in truth, the divider is only there to protect any young snails. The betta likes to gobble them.

He needs a saddle and a seahorse. And a little stetson. That would be awesome.

In fact, I can't think of anything that would be more awesome.
