Has anyone ever taken an O2 contract SIM card out of an iPhone (or any other smartphone with unlimited data) and put it into any sort of 3G modem? What happens? Do you continue to get unlimited data, and do you need to piss about with APNs etc?

Expansys will be selling [url=

Just not sure what SIM I would put in it.

I think you'll be lucky. My understanding is that if the data gets routed through the iPhone APN, they can tell if it's coming from an iPhone or not. If you punt it through O2s mobile web APN, you'll get charged for it.

So a non iPhone SIM would be fine, because you'll have unlimited data on the mobile web APN.
