I know full well that if I get this, it will disappoint me.

But I want it.

Noooo!

The demo 'period' has ended, after all that precious bandwidth spent downloading too. :(

*Blub* Was really looking forward to trying it out, too!

The state of the login screen has significantly put me off from making a purchase.

Hmm, been reading through the Simtropolis forums. True, they are die-hard Sim City fans over there, but they seem terribly luke-warm about the game. Buggy and under-featured is how they're describing it, citing it as lacking public transport and the zoning depth of SC4. Might wait a while and see what the overall reaction is and how it patches.

Tropico 3 is getting very favourable comments over there though, and the demo's just come out. Downloading now to see what it's like. Hm.

But Cities XL looks so pretty! It'd really better not suck, I was looking forwards to losing several months of my life to it. I still play Sim City 4 to this day (although only periodically, and I tend to build up my cities to the point that they're all nice and balanced and then the game decides that obviously this is boring and takes a giant shit somewhere in the middle of it all and suddenly all my Sims move out and the economy tanks and it all goes to pot and then I get angry and turn it off for another month or two).

Hm. The comments over on Simtropolis are Not Happy. And there's no reviews out yet. This doesn't bode well - shame. Looks like I'll be sticking with SC4 for a while yet.
