So, if i need to make a presentation and show some videos, which is the format i should go for? I will not be using my laptop so what does every windows XP/Vista supports?

I needed to convert some flv videos, but the program i'm using (AKME) can't convert them to MPEG-1, so i'm going for Windows Media Video v2. Is this a good choice? Is there any better conversion programs out there?

Windows Media 9. Every time.

I do this for a living. In fact I'm encoding some as I type. On a Mac. Take that Bill Gates!

Windows media 9 is WMV1 or WMV2? That's the only options i have in the apps i've tried.

My current job is teaching science and math to 5th graders (yes, i never thought i would end up doing this, but its great), and i can't have a single dead moment in classes or i risk losing control (and allowing the kids to start fights and so on), so the videos must not fail.

Windows Media 9 has been standard since XP came out. Certainly any PC I've come across since 2003 has it installed.

WMV1 and WMV2 are ancient if they are the ones I am thinking of. They'll work but will probably look like shit.

Additional: As a science and maths teacher please can you ensure you trim your nose hair and wash properly under your arms before taking lessons. Also, please use Head and Shoulders. Thank you.
