What the holy fuck?

Edit -- IMDB comments suggesting James Franco (the Hobgoblin from Spider-Man) or Ryan Reynolds as Ash. THE STUPID, IT BURNS. Bruce Campbell or GTFO. He can still slapstick it up, as My Name Is Bruce shows.

I'm sure I heard about this a while back. I think I heard Bruce Campbell was going to be in it but not as Ash,

I couldn't put it better myself. 8)

Except wasn't the Hobgoblin William DeFoe?

Durr. Ich bin idiot.

Though that makes it worse. As Defoe would be far more entertaining as Ash.

Wait, I'm having this argument with you in the movie thread. Shall we do it here instead?

Well, what did you like about it?
Here is my list:
Good:
Pretty girl was pretty, but a bit skinny for me. She looked good in the rain at the end, though
Awesome talking goat
The 'gumming' bit
The 'bile' bit
The very, very end (for the "well, that's him all fucked up for life" feeling)

Bad:
Clichéd story - "gypsy woman puts curse on blonde girl"
Old gypsy woman apparently has super-strength and
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
the ability to break into alarmed vehicles (wow, she's in the back seat, that's original)

Anvil hanging in the shed. What the fuck?
When stereotyped psychic man was giving CPR, he gave up after about eight seconds. Good effort, chap
There were only about five shocks, and they were all really cheap (ie. oh quietness just looking around for things to OLD WOMAN!) Where's the suspense?
Used the "dead woman's hand tangled in hair" thing twice
The ending was obvious as soon as
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
the boyfriend stood on the brakes in the car (CRASH ZOOM OLD WOMAN WHO WASN'T THERE) and the button envelope fell on the floor

It was just "modern horror by numbers", and probably not worth watching (if it wasn't for the goat, no way would it be worth watching).

Man, she certainly did look good in the rain.

Almost as if they decided to make it rain so she looked all sexy and rained on.

Everything really.

Raimi is all about the jumps. What was cheap about them? I loved the fact they were mostly in full daylight.

Effects and visuals all nodding back at his Evil Dead stuff. Wankworthy.

Ending was good imho.

I enjoyed it because it made me jump constantly, was FUN and didnt take itself too seriously, and was very entertaining because of that.

I dont really see any negatives with it.
From my understanding it was meant to be hackneyed and cheesy - so it succeeded in its breif.
The ending was also really cool.

I just found it fun and scary, and watched it with my girlfriend id say it was an awesome date movie

Knock yourself out. I could come up with way more things I didn't like about it than you could.

Doesn't stop Drag Me To Hell being something that's been done (and done better) many times before, though.

At a basic level, any of the 'slasher' films that were popular at the beginning of the century - all the Scream's, I Know What You Did Last Summer and films like that all did pretty much the same thing but without the supernatural element (or the ropey CGI). If you want more ghosty-type stuff, Final Destination, Exorcist: The Beginning, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Dominion, Creep (which was not, sadly, called "Look Out, He's Mad") or The Descent.
Or just watch The Evil Dead, which was scarier and funny.

The Scream films are really really good in my head, been a fair few years since I saw them.

They are really funny right?

This is the thing though. I love Evil Dead(s) that's why I wanted more or anything similar by the same an Man.

That list has some ok stuff on their btw, non of them I would consider being better than DMTH.

As long as we leave him snacks in the boot I can see no downside to that plan.

Would we have to bring him up as a Vegetarian or can we let him make up his own mind?
