Hmm. Well he had a great match with Rude at Summerslam '90, but I think that was more down to Rude than him. Then we had the abomination of him vs Goldust at In Your House 20-odd where he just sat in the middle of the ring for 20 minutes on a chair smoking a cigar. Then there's the fact that those pesky bicep tassels are still embedded in me, so I'll say shite.

Oh, and his stupid ring trapdoor nearly crippled Davey Boy, too. Deffo shite.

When I was young, Wrestlemania VI vs Hogan was the most awesome thing ever.

But that "I'm out, I'm unconscious, no I'm not, I'm up and not I'm shaking the ropes and running around like a child on Sunny Delight" really annoyed me. So... shite.

Definitely alright. The fact that everyone has heard of him, but he had quite a short wrestling career speaks volumes.

He's mental which makes him a perfect fit to be a wrestler.

My favourite match ever, is Warrior vs. Savage at Wrestlemania VII. That was mostly down to Savage being a perfectionist and planning every step of every one of his matches, therefore not allowing Warrior to fuck it up.

But Warrior is/was awful otherwise. Still not as bad as Hogan, mind you.

Edit: Oh God, his kids have Warrior as their surname.

There's nothing wrong with the Ultimate Warrior character. There are problems with the person behind it though. He's a tool. Still this is about The Ultimate Warrior who was my favourite wrestler for a long time so I'm going for alright.

Also Warrior/Hogan WM6 is the best wrestling match ever.

Reading his Wikipedia page on his fights is excellent. I remember all the WWF stuff but reading about how he planned to defeat the undertaker by being trapped in a coffin, being buried alive and having a snake bite his face is crackers. More than alright: He was aces (as a wrestler - I never heard about him being a homophobe but, I'll tell you this much, that's not very nice.)

Alright.

His best three matches are better than, say, the best three HHH matches, and he's considered good.

As a person, he's a complete nob. But that's Warrior, not The Ultimate Warrior.

And in terms of look, energy and insanity, he was awesome.

You've got to feel for his dad, though, the Penultimate Warrior. And his dad's brother's wife, Aunty Penultimate Warrior

His brother made a fortune off a Swiss Army Knife type gadget.

Multimate Warrior.

Savage's feud with Jake Roberts had already utilised a snake (admittedly, only on his arm, but still...)

Skip to three minutes in, if you like.

The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase spoke about that scene once.

He said that there isn't enough money in the world for him to do something like it.

Saying 'he's had 3 really great matches' is a good point. I'll counter with 'just about anyone else could have had better matches with his opponents for those 3 matches'.

Oh, heh. OK. Who's had better matches with Hogan, Savage (either WMVII or SummerSlam 1992) and Rude?

Not could have*, but has. Let me know, Curio. I'd possibly go with Steamboat on two of those, but three?

* There are a million better wrestlers out there. That's precisely why I made that point.

The "Attitude era" pretty much made a mockery of all the old WWF stars. Wasn't Austin 3:16 a direct piss take on Jake Roberts born again christian angle? From what I undrestand The Ultimate Warrior was being groomed to be the next big good guy following a monumental heel trun from Hogan. This was thwarted by Ult being borderline mad (or should I say borderline sane). Hulk eventually got his bad guy moment in WCW and Ult was rather quickly phased out leaving the door open for D-Generation X and the like to expand the upper tier of wrestling so we didn't just have a single baby face and heel headlining every PPV. This lead to pretty much the greatest era of wresling in my lifetime.

In summary, The Ultimate Warrior could have been any muscular bloke driven slightly crazy by steroids. He happened to catch Vince's eye for some reason and was pushed mercilessly. Others would have made more of the opportunity than him. Shite.

I've dropped in and out of watching wrestling quite a few times over the years and I didn't see anything of the Ultimate Warrior. I just wasn't watching when he was around.

However, I enjoyed his guest contributions to that AP review of WWF-Wrestle-something-or-other, and he had a pretty recognisable look - so I voted alright.

That's pretty (very) incorrect. Woyyah got the title while Hogan was still face but, Hogan being Hogan, didn't want anyone taking his spot.

Hogan didn't turn heel til 1996 in WCW, by which time Woyyah had left WWF, returned for a nostalgia pop and left again.

I don't know what this 'best era' business is*, but if it's catchphrases and crotch chops, then more power to you.

* I'd go All Japan Pro Wrestling 1992-96.
