After the bad film thread...

I was thinking what films would you like to have been made and why.

or which film could have been made better

I wish WB had gone ahead with his proposal for a low-budget, R-rated adaptation of Batman: Year One. Would've been commercial suicide I guess.

Aronofsky's set to direct a remake of Robocop next year. Cautious optimism from me about that one.

Home Alone 5 (hopefully there isnt one)

Macaulay Culkin is now a 30 odd year old outcast, alienated and deeply depressed, haunted by his youth because of his parents terrible upbringing of him. Hes now afraid to socailise or even leave his home, he is home alone for ever, directed by Darren Aronofsky.

You might as well just call it Macaulay Culkin: His True Story.

That 'Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell' movie that's just appeared on the Xbox video store looks a bit like it was inspired by Fallout.

Fuck yes, fuck yes. It wouldn't even have to be that high-budget either.
Have you read The Black Man (or something), the sexual? I didn't like that. I liked Market Forces though, even though it was really, really daft.

I like to see a film, or maybe a TV series, of The Dark Tower.

Judge Dredd with a youngish James Coburn in the lead. Directed by... Christopher Nolan would be as good as any, or maybe Verhoeven.

Strontium Dog with Michael Wincott in the lead role with Brendan Gleeson as Wulf. Same directors.

The Long Goodbye, Russell Crowe to lead, Curtis Hanson to direct.

Star Wars I, II, III by Uwe Boll. I don't think even he could do as bad a job as Lucas with all that money to spend :p

I've said here before that I want to see sci-fi war films/serials.

Full Metal Jacket or Band of Brothers set in space could be brilliant.

The Stars My Destination, by Alfred Bester.

Terrifyingly, it was almost made with Richard Gere cast in the role of Gully Foyle. Brrr.

Waylander by David Gemmell would be fun, but they would be sure to ruin it with lots of slow motion hair flapping.

By they I mean Jews.

There's quite a few Gemmel stories that would make good heroic fantasy films, but I think they suffer from not really having enough in each story to make into a full-length film whilst not flowing together well enough to make one film covering all the Waylander books, or all the Druss books.

I think this is right.

I once attended a speech by Gemmell at my local library. He was a brilliant public speaker, and he signed my copies of Legend and, umm, whatever his new one was at the time. Druss was based on his stepdad, trufax.

I'd like them to make a film on the Irvine Welsh sequel to Trainspotting, Porno, just so Robert Carlyle can reprise his role of Begbie. Although I think alot of his books would be good to be adapted to film, I would especially like to see Maribou Stork Nightmares as a film although the ending might be a problem censorship wise.

Hmm...

Top of my list would be Post Captain, the second in the Master & Commander series by Patrick O'Brien. Most of it is set on land and delves into Jack & Maturin ashore, with him and Maturin a-courting of a sorts the daughters of a harpy of a mother. "The most unromantic creature ever to have thrust her squat, protesting bulk across the earth," I believe Maturin speaks of her.

But yes, that. And the stuff at sea at the end with the battle. And by the same people and cast with Peter Weir in charge please. Ta.

I'd also very much like 'The Man Who Was Thursday' by G K Chesteron done in period setting, a decent version of Dune, The White Mountains by John Christopher, Hawkmoon by Michael Moorcock and Fludd by Hilary Mantel. Ta again.

If we continue on in a Fantasy vein, The Song of Albion trilogy by Stephen Lawhead would be amazing to see on screen. If the atmosphere of those books could be faithfully reproduced on screen I think they could be very successful, esp with LotR fans.

But start with the first chronicles, obv.

I have every Gemmel book, they're all awesome. Some would make excellent films. They're the kind of fantasty novels that have a straightforward and easy to understand universe, so they're very filmable. Not like a lot of others that spend half the book explaining what shit means before actually get to the story.

I know the cunt that owns druss.co.uk (spoiler, it's me).

Oh, erm... I'd like to see American Gods done as a mini series (as long as they do it properly, and get Gaiman to do the script, obv.)

A Deadpool fillum would be awesome, as long as they kept the tone of the later stuff. Obviously, in a movie version, Deadpool would have to think that he's in a movie. Otherwise it wouldn't work.

The books regularly mention the fact he isn't actually that tall, just a brick shithouse with an axe :)

Huh. That guy on the cover so isn't Druss. Druss should be significantly huger. Brian Blessed with an axe, in fact.

The books regularly mention the fact he isn't actually that tall, just a brick shithouse with an axe :)
