I'm probably going to buy a new Arcade this week to replace my aging/crashtastic Core console. I can get a bare console for £130, or there's a pack for £150 with You're In The Movies and Scene-it. Oh, and Sega Superstars Tennis. That might be worth breaking for parts. Anyone want any of those bits?

Seag Superstar Tennis is an appalling game.

I'ld paypal you a tenner for the camera.

You can probably do better than that though.

Just the camera, or the game too? The package it comes in is hella bulky, but the camera would pack up small on its own.

(Hint: the game is shitness. Apparently. My copy has never even been in an Xbox.)

Sega Tennis must be worth £5 on a trade-in, I'd have thought, so the bundle is probably the way forwards.

I would have taken Sega Tennis off your hands but it would have to be at a good price.

To be honest, I don't know whether I'd give a fiver for it so it would probably be better for you to trade it in.

I'd sooner see it go to a Bezzie's home. £5 shipped? I'm (probably) not buying anything anytime soon, so I can't trade it in straight away anyway.

I've actually started preferring my white DVD tray on my arcade over the plackky silver one now.

Sega Tennis is worth 200 points on Goosex so I can go down that route. I think I might as well go for the bundle one.

It is shite mind, got to the final showdown with dr robotnik, and its impossible to keep an eye on the ball because some of the court is fucking yellow like the ball so it dissappears from your sight.

Hah! Whilst a fair price, it's not worth the jiffy bag, stamp, and time spent battling the post office queue!

Hoho! All that spunk that UK Resistance hurled across its tits, too.

(I did play the demo, and realized it was appalling, not least of all because it was based off the Virtua Tennis engine... being able to play as Gum from JSR wasn't enough)

EDIT: I'll have Scene It if no-one else does.

For the first time ever, I have unboxed a 360. The Jasper PSU is like a toy compared to the mk1 Xephyr one I traded it it's 2/3rds that size and 1/2 the weight.

Did you buy a scabby 2nd hand one last time, then?

Can anyone tell me how to make sure you get the "right" 360 these days? Only my brother is after one and he's thinking of ordering one from Play. Are they mostly all the new type now?

Yeah, bought a Core from a colleague. Technically that's the one I just traded in, although it's been back to Microsoft twice, so it's a bit like Trigger's broom.

You can't, over the Internet. In person it's easy. You look through the window on the box, shuffle the 360 to one side a bit, and make sure the voltage rating says "12v - 12.1A".

I think you'd be unlucky to not get the newest model now though.

Ah right, cheers. Hopefully Play should be turning them over quick enough to have mostly new stock.

The "Jasper" model, which is the v3 your friend wants, has been in manufacture since late 2008. So yes, he'd be unlucky to get an older model. It is significantly more RRoD resistant, so he wants that one for sure.

Personally, given their reliability track record, I'd prefer to buy it from a shop where I can go bang on the counter in the event of shit going wrong.

Right, AE/Lave/anyone else: £15 for camera (and You're In The Movies if you want it, all sealed up in the big plastic box it comes in). Who wants it?

I've changed my mind on the Scene It! unfortunately - I don't have anywhere to keep the ridiculous controllers where they won't get trampled on, for one thing. Whoever wants it please make DrG an offer.

You eejit! I've opened it now, I wanted to maul the controllers. They are nice. I might keep it, unless anyone wants to make an offer.

In other news, my new 360 is much, much quieter than the old one. And despite saying "256Mb" on the box, the special internal memory card is reporting "380Mb" available (I think that's the number) so it appears to be one of the new half-gig models. That'll be a handy place to back savegames up to.

I've ordered one of those adaptor dongles off eBay to let me use optical audio and HDMI at the same time, so I'll soon be able to put it on HDMI too (which was part of the motivation for this caper).

I cannot believe how much quieter this new Xbox is. At full swing after a long gaming session, it's still quieter than my other one was at power-up. And idling on the dashboard it's no louder than my PS3.
