Now excuse me, but if the neighbours who are so shocked are so familiar with this lady, didn't they wonder why they hadn't seen her FOR FIVE YEARS!

Don't forget the maggots dropping through the ceiling to the flat below.

Perhaps they're just shocked at their own obliviousness? "With this disturbing discovery my wife and I are both shocked to realise that we're oblivious dullards of the highest order. And we have no sense of smell." I wish there'd be a statement like that one day. C'mon, someone...

I dread to think how many milk bottles must've built up on the doorstep.

(Seriously though, if you were those neighbours you'd surely keep schtum? It's a bit embarrassing to say you hadn't checked in for 5 bleedin' years. Unless we're talking Suffolk here).

This is a sad story but having lived in tenement flats I can't say I am surprised. I always said hello to neighbours in passing but I never really got past that with any of them. I've always wished I lve somewhere I could be closer to my neighbours but in reality, these days it doesn't happen.

If you lived next door sweetheart I would never have to move again

Also, I'm a kickass cook and my friends tend to be my guineau pigs so you and your missus would be loving it. :metul:
