Is it just me, or does this sound the opposite of relaxing?

Visits to Hampton Court Palace Gardens, Salisbury, Bath, Tramore, Blarney, Killarney, Adare, Llangollen, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon; orientation drives in Cardiff, Limerick, Dublin

Scenic Highlights: Stonehenge and Salisbury Plain, Ring of Kerry and Lakes of Killarney, Snowdonia, IronbridgeDay 1 Fri. BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.

Day 2 Sat. ARRIVAL IN LONDON, ENGLAND. Check into your hotel. In the afternoon there's time to rest or explore the lively British capital; uniformed Hosts are available to help you make the most of your day.

Day 3 Sun. LONDON-STONEHENGE-BATH-BRISTOL. Meet your Tour Director and traveling companions and depart at 8 am for a memorable day of sightseeing: a photo opportunity at Hampton Court, Henry VIII's sumptuous Tudor palace on the River Thames; Salisbury, the "City of the Soaring Spire;" and Stonehenge, one of England's most intriguing mysteries. Stop in the elegant Georgian city of Bath, famous for its Roman relics. Overnight in Bristol, from where John Cabot sailed in 1497 to discover America. (B,D)

Day 4 Mon. BRISTOL-CARDIFF, WALES-TRAMORE, IRELAND. Cross the River Severn to the Welsh capital. An orientation drive here introduces you to the major attractions: Cardiff Castle, Cathays Park, Millennium Stadium, and the stately civic buildings. Vistas of rich dairy farmland on the way to the departure point for the ferry across St. George's Channel to Ireland, arriving at Rosslare in just under four hours. Via Waterford, famed for its fine crystal, for an overnight in the seaside resort of Tramore. (B,D)

Day 5 Tue. TRAMORE-BLARNEY-KILLARNEY. Discover why Ireland is called the "Emerald Isle." Dungarvan, Youghal, and Cork, the country's second-largest city, are milestones on the way to Blarney, renowned for its Stone of Eloquence. Time at your leisure to see the castle and shop for Irish crafts and handmade crystal. After lunch, head through the Cork and Kerry mountains for the resort town of Killarney. (B,D)

Day 6 Wed. KILLARNEY-RING OF KERRY-LIMERICK-ENNIS. This morning, take a 100-mile coastal panoramic drive known as the "Ring of Kerry"-sparkling seascapes, mountains dotted with brightly colored farmhouses, winding lanes bordered with subtropical vegetation, and spectacular views of the Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View. Drive via Adare, a village well known throughout Ireland for its prize-winning thatched cottages, to Limerick. An orientation drive here features King John's Castle and the Treaty Stone of 1691. Tonight, an optional banquet at Knappogue Castle is recommended. (B)

Day 7 Thu. ENNIS-DUBLIN. Head east for the Irish capital via Kildare and horse-racing country. Your afternoon in the "Fair City" starts off with an orientation drive along statue-lined O'Connell Street. Then, admire elegant Georgian squares and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Later, time to browse and shop; take your Tour Director's dining recommendation for this evening. (B)

Day 8 Fri. DUBLIN-WREXHAM, WALES. Across the Irish Sea to Holyhead on the Welsh Isle of Anglesey with its tongue-twisting place names. Enjoy the best of North Wales on a scenic drive through Snowdonia National Park, including spectacular Llanberis Pass and pretty Betws-y-Coed. Visit Llangollen, home of an annual international competition for poets and musicians, before arriving in Wrexham. (B,D)

Day 9 Sat. WREXHAM-STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, ENGLAND-LONDON. Take your photos this morning at Ironbridge, "Cradle of the Industrial Revolution." More scenic highlights on the last leg of your journey. In Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, take your pictures of Anne Hathaway's Cottage and explore the town at your own pace. After returning to London around 5 pm, how about celebrating the success of your tour with a night out on the town? (B)

Day 10 Sun. YOUR HOMEBOUND FLIGHT ARRIVES THE SAME DAY. (B)

I read that as 'uninformed' which would have ben far funnier.

"So, what's there to do in this here London?'

"Dunno."

I have something equally intense planned for when my buddy flies in in October.

The reason? He only gets 1 week paid a year. He gets the option of a second week but it's not paid.

Hence I've got to take him to as many places as humanly possible in 10 days.

I think you'll find that's why they cram so much in. That and the fact that the exchange rate fucks the yanks.

Christ. That 'holiday' doesn't sound fun at all. Not least because ten days for a transatlantic trip is way too short, but good lord they've trying to cover a lot in that time. Half a day in London? Way too much!

I was there for a gig at the weekend, and hated the place...I've always hated it, but this weekend just re-iterated the fact that I'll never live there in my life.

The only good bit was walking down kings road to my mates house.

Surely they'd be better of going to fewer places, hitting a proper pub every once in a while to quench their thirst & just having a relaxing holiday where you not only get to see things you get to soak up a bit of the atmosphere & character of the different places.

"How was Engerland?"
"We saw it all man. London, etc..."
"What were the people like?"
"Fuck knows"

I watched Wall-E last night. Picturing these Americans shuttled around in buses across the lands, never getting time to experience or appreciate any bit of it is way too similar to the fat people zooming around the ship on hover-lilos to be comfortable.

We had some Americans over for our wedding. As part of their tour, they were planning on driving from Edinburgh to Holyhead to catch the ferry. In a single day. Would they listen otherwise? No.

Thankfully, a good friend of ours comes over from Green Bay and does it properly. And by "doing it properly", I mean "driving to the Lake District to visit breweries, and then drinking the contents."

He plays it too :D I got him right into it. Which in hindsight wasn't the nicest thing to do seeing as he works 6 days a week.

Still, he's got the 4th weekend off fri through mon.

My missus is a Yank and the first time she came over to the UK she wanted to do all that kind of stuff. Pain in the fucking arse. Then she realised that sitting around my place watching day time telly was better than actually doing "tourism". So she has so far, in two years, managed to see London, Bath, Glastonbury and Stratford. Oh, and Liverpool, but seeing that's where I live, that doesn't count.

She sure has - she's been there once. Wasn't impressed. Complained that it stinks, that she had to stand up (we don't sit down in the Kop) and the she couldn't get a beer. Yeah? And?

Unless they streak, of course.
There was a semi-streaker when I was at Anfield once, a woman not far away took off all her clothes and took exactly two steps toward the fence when a policeman body-blocked her. T'was awesome :)

I did too, after a few days, but at first it was mental. It's so big, there's so many people & everyone seems to be in a perpetual rush. Everywhere I went seemed to be like Sauchiehall Street on a busy Saturday & this was on a weekday.

Im usually in a rush to get places, I just walk fast generally, and all the people stopping in the middle of the pavement and then giving you evils for having to walk round them, or bumping into them because they stopped abruptly.
I just generally hate the public, and london is the worst place for it.

That's why i liked it. The city has a life of its own, and isn't a tourist trap. And i didn't thought it was that big. I visited everything (Chelsea/Fulham in the west, to Tower Bridge in the East, Camden in the North and Tate Modern in the south) just by walking. Yes, i know the city is much bigger, but where the most points of interest are, isn't that big.

It's funny that while i was there, many people (tourists) asked me for directions. Seems i'm also a fast walker.
