Warning is great. I loved 'Minority' and 'Castaway' off there. The rest of the album was good too, 'when september ends' was lovely and depressing.

American Idiot was also very good, best songs being Holiday and Boulevard of broken dreams.

It's probably that I'm a huge Green Day fan and have been for years, and absolutely and utterly hate any music that doesn't come from real instruments.

in the gym i used to go, they always had a Mainstream Rock radio on, which aired every day, at the same time, "Wake me up when September ends". Really, hearing that song drained me all my strength to keep training. I would have to listen to an whole Manowar album after it to compensate.

Didn't get any coverage on the radio in the states though, I think they deemed it a bit risky what with the censorship policies out there.

I just like real music. I also have a very wide taste in music. Everything from punk to hardcore (the metal type) reggae, etc.

When I was a kid I loved Adam and the ants, The Jam, Style Council (well obviously) and anything Weller did or was involved in. But I like American punk (Ramones, Social Distortion, Flogging Molly etc) and rock (Rob Zombie, Fuel, NIN etc).

Also like Ska (anything two tone, Prince Buster etc) and basically anything with a pulse. Because of my hype nature I like music that I can nod my head along too, IE music that makes me feel like I'm alive rather than dead.

Currently I've been listening to a lot of 311 (U.S Ska/punk/reggae mix) band, bloody excellent they are. Also like Sublime, Bush, etc etc.

TBH? I'll listen to anything as long as it's not that shat where they robotise the singer's* voice.

*If they could ruddy well sing in the first place they wouldn't need to add those gay effects.

The Descendents were great.

I was quite into them a while back.

TRUFAX: I got a free ticket to see NOFX last week. It was pretty awesome all is said. Though they didn't play all out of angst which made me sad.

The free tickets were for press/journos so we were actually in the stalls so I didn't have to deal with moshing. Which I've never, ever liked. Even when I was 14.

Oh but there was a great moment when Fat Mike got a guy chucked out from the front row because he didn't know the words to any songs and so was just a poser. Which made me laugh.

Not really. The Descendents while not being as old as the Ramones, basically did the template for the early 90s Punk/Pop boom that Green Day got famous in. And most of them never did it better than descendants anyway.

JC, if you like punk you have to listen to Rise Against. They're ace. If you like something heavier, try Comeback Kid.

Also, punk singers are not known for their amazing vocal stylings. There's a lot more vocal talent in R&B and Pop music than in punk.

Music is music. There's nothing more inherently 'real' on one CD than another.

Live music is a slightly different kettle of monkeys, admittedly.

Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Otis Reading, Ray Charles, Blink182, Barenakedladies, 311, Social Distortion, Adam and the ants, Duffy, Amy Winehouse ETC ETC.
