I have a little Kodak Camera, which came with an SD card.

If I got a faster SD card, like a Sandisk Ultra or Extreme, would it make the camera quicker at taking pics?

Probably not, in all honesty. I have a Nikon D80 running in RAW+JPEG mode, and I noticed no appreciable difference between a Sandisk Ultra Extreme II or whatever they're called and a vanilla SD card.

Perhaps compact cameras are different though, I don't know.

I doubt it'd make much noticeable difference.

It *might* if you were shooting lots in really fast burst mode in a really high resolution, but again probably not by much.

Fair enough, I will save my pennies then.

I guess the way to check is to find out from the specs of the camera how many shots it can take before it needs to flush its buffer to the card. If it's reaching that number then freezing, it's the card. If it's not reaching that number, it's the camera.

Thanks, I will do that.

There's a difference when I'm taking pictures with my Pentax K10D between using a normal Sandisk card and a Sandisk extreme-something thingy.

I wouldn't think there's going to be a lot of difference between a modern normal card and a modern special card.

A 'little Kodak camera' is going to spend a lot of time in "PROCESSING..." no matter what you do. I think its a CPU based problem than a card transfer speed problem. That's why I got a massive mega camera for super-shots to stand in for my Kodak Easyshare.

I'd just like to state that I love my SD 4gig card. Can't remember what it is, but it lets me take more pics than I ever thought humanly possible, and is no slouch in burst mode either. Bit of an upgrade from my old 512mb, fer sure.
