I've just looked at my bank account, and I've been paid about £80 more than I usually do. Anyone else noticed this? Is it a new taxy-thing? Or have I got an unexpected payrise?

Obviously, I'll be looking at my payslip, but I probably won't get it for another week knowing work.

I can't really compare it as I got my bonus this month, plus two days double time for the BHs.

We have them off, but I think we get some kind of half-day pay for each one or something. That makes sense.

The tax section of my payslip is far too depressing to look at.

I got paid double last week because they [work] owed me a week's wages for cocking up my sick-note when I returned in January.

I'm paying £60 less tax than in march, but £30 more NI.

My allowance from Mrs Z hasn't changed since we got married.

I just don't read my payslips at all. As long as my online banking shows roughly the correct figure added at the end of the month, that'll do.

I paid £81 before tax for my bike (first month of several, that is) under the cyclescheme thing. But that only equated to £20 less pay than the last comparable month. I've not compared the slips yet, but that was chuffing good news. And means I only have to cycle in a couple of times to save the wonga.

I'm paying £25 after tax per month for my bike over 12 months. It cost £460.

Well... I've just repaid my overdraft, almost 9 years after leaving Uni. Actually, I repaid it in full at the start of every month, and then spent the rest of the month eating into it. I've only cleared it now as we're saving up for the wedding.

Shit! That's a long time! Hopefully I can move abroad if I get a job and live there for 10 years and have my loan written off....I can but hope. Otherwise it's years of living slightly better off than being a student!

In fairness, I'm shit with money, and lived way beyond my means for many a year. Still, it was great fun.

No, a slight tax drop for most people was expected this year, I think. It's due to the shifting of the bands.

Yeah, but £30 a month? That's not really a big enough percentage of my pay packet to make me grateful for the extra moolah - just enough to make me think they've cocked up and I've got someone else's money.

My tax went up by 6 quid so I'm inclined to agree. Give it back you fatcat bastard!

I guess overall in the last 12 months, there's been inflation. As such it sort of makes sense to adjust the bands.
