Normally either 12:00 or 13:00, except every other Thursday when it's 14:00. Such is the rota. So, um, can't really click an answer - I suppose I'm marginally more a 13:00 person.

Today however, I should have gone at 13:00 and yet am still here, waiting. Where's Jane got to? She's usually so conscientious. Has she been kidnapped by a cult? 13:34 now... where is she? WHERE?

No such time as 12:00pm, but I chose it anyway. ;)

I do start work at 8am, to be fair.

More of Grim...'s sinister marketing data collection, I see. The whole of BETEO is just an elaborate viral marketing scheme on behalf of Microsoft, I heard.

2.00pm I take my break, nice short stint in the afternoon.

I eat all day long though.

My boss told me the other day, in as many words, that it doesn't look good when I go for lunch and everybody else is left working at their desk.

I merely said more fool them.. My contract says I should have a break so it's their fault if they can't manage their time!

Anyway.. I go at 12:30 on the dot!

Also... people eating at their desk! There's nothing more annoying than someone eating something smelly whilst scrolling through a massive spreadsheet using the clickiest mouse wheel you've ever heard! Seriously, this is REALLY annoying me...

Oh, and this may or may not be happening as I type this.

I plan to go at half twelve, though sometimes things come up and I go a bit later.

That said, I eat food from the work canteen at my desk 4 days out of 5.

Either 12.30 or the traditional 1. I prefer taking it later so the afternoon's short - but we're not allowed to finish the lunch break after 2pm, which is a bit bobbins.

My typical practice is to think about lunch about 12, decide it's too early, then get involved in something until half two, then decide it's too late and get a 3-pack of jaffa cakes from the machine, meaning my first meal of the day is the evening meal where I then overeat like a bastard.

I go at 3pm, which leaves an hour after I get back before I finish work. I get more work done before lunch, and there's nothing that demotivates me more than a long afternoon dragging on forever.

I eat when I'm finished for the day, which is usually about 11 or 12ish at the latest :)

Man, I'm glad I don't work in an office. It sounds awful. My 'desk' is a learning bar (aka breakfast bar) that is on a balcony overlooking the library. It isn't really mine, I just decided it is. The staff room is unworkable because of people shouting loudly about yesterday's episode of Top Gear.

I start to get hungry about 11, and very hungry at 11:30. If I'm teaching I usually have to wait until 12:00 (sweating, agitated) or 12:30 (ready to hurt someone). Any longer than that and I'd have to kill someone. I do start work between 7:30 and 8, though.

I always have my lunch at 12pm as soon after that my belly's rumbling gets distracting. It's always been the same time regardless of whether I start at 6 (in my old job) or 9. Once I've had my lunch though, I'm fine for the rest of the day whether I then have tea (as in the evening meal) at 6pm or 11pm.

Can't believe I bothered typing that out.

I'm in the "long stint in the morning, short stint in the afternoon" crowd, so my lunch is normally at 14:00 or thereabouts. The last few months I've been going for a walk on my lunch-hour though, so I generally grab some sandwiches from the bakery at the top of the road in my morning tea-break and scoff them at my desk about midday.

That's one of the things I miss about working in an office rather than from home, aside from having little to no social interaction for eight hours a day. I used to wander off at lunch up to the canal, sitting down enjoying the sun and calm, feeding the ducks*.

*have you ever tried feeding ducks Pink 'n' Whites? They go mental.

2 for me - I like to go late, it breaks the day up better, and means I'm awake enough to actually want to eat. I could go as early as 12, but I hate early lunches. When I worked in retail I would frequently work through until about 3 without a break. Of course, the supervisor's response was to slag me off for it because changes to routines frightened and alarmed them.

I rarely take the afternoon break I'm entitled to, either. But then there's not much point when I can just eat after work instead.

Since I work in a factory right now, the lunch break is decided for you so I go at 12.30pm sharp when the horn sounds. It is a good time though since I start at 7.30am and have breakfast and 9am so by lunchtime I am pretty hungry.

I *aim* to eat 'lunch' about 11:30 when I'm working early (as I'm ravenous by then) and as soon as I come in (about 13:30/14:00) when I work late.

But lunch break? What's that?

I am most productive and less aware of passing time in the morning, and get less tolerant of being at work throughout the course of the day, so try to take a lunch break as late as possible, so it's normally 1:30 - 2:30. I'm pretty autonomous, and not chained to my desk, despite having a team to manage, so can take it whenever I like really and often either skip lunch entirely and work through or wander off at 2pm and have a walk round the lake nearby.

Having a late lunch works well as it means a short afternoon, which is most excellent.

I was in need of food therapy today, so ate EVERYTHING!

That being a ham 'n' eggs bloomer sandwich
Salt and vinegar crisps
Large fruit salad
Chocolate bar
Packet of dried mango
Bottle of elderflower cordial thing

It was awesome. And effing expensive. But worth it.
